N64 was a G! Shadows of the Empire and Goldeneye changed my young life.

Great episode! Wish I lived in the area so I could check out the store. Mega Man 2 will always be one of my favorites

Even if you're not in the area, make a note of it! Hell, make the trek anyways haha

@@NewGamePlusNH If I ever get to that side of the country again, I definitely will! Always try to check out retro gaming shops whenever I'm in a new area. There's nothing quite like the excitement of walking into a new place and going straight to the NES section (at least for me!)

@ZeroThe14thRetro we've got some serious in box NES games here too!

I'd argue with Brendan that the only kart racer better than Diddy kong is CTR.

1000% I managed to get to the end boss a few times, but just keep getting schooled. That game is without any semblance of mercy haha.

Piggybacking off the 1st gen 3d consoles convo...of course they visually don't "hold up" but there is just a blast from the past when you play ocarina or re/re2 or tomb raider. There just is a charm visually and the gaemplay is still there that made them classics. Games today feel by the numbers both visually and control wise. First gen 3d had so many unique "first time" games where if u go back and play them you have a lot of variety

I'm surprised to hear you mention Tomb Raider as that control scheme is SO rough in particular, but that's kind of what I mean by separating one's feelings towards the game itself vs just how good it actually is by modern standards and innovation. This is also why I use the SNES as the gold standard, as both control scheme and visuals hold up tremendously still to this day. Love these kinds of conversations, thanks for not throwing a softball and coming in with your own hot takes!

@@NewGamePlusNH I think it's fun going back and playing og Resident evil. Sure it's clunky and takes time to get used to but that is kinda of the charm of playing retro games. Everything was new back then
@NewGamePlusNH Жыл бұрын
@JeffYPbPr I love that you can still have that feeling, because for me when I play retro games I want that experience to feel the same, but it's hard now when I'm fighting a controller. Like you said, back then everything was new, but sometimes it's harder to revisit certain things than it is others because it's no longer new and it doesn't work anymore. I'm glad you can still appreciate these things and that the modern gaming experience hasn't marred your ability to get retro on the 3D.

N64 Ocarina of Time is one of the best games of all time! I disagree with John in terms of it holding up well! It was pivoted to multiple systems and the only thing that changed was the controller minus the actual remade Ocarina versions. I would even play the old vs the remade! And as for PlayStation 2 era games all the Onimushas, Def Jam Fight for NY, and Rise to Honor are wicked fun to play through! Only PS1 game that holds up for me is Yugioh Forbidden Memories!

I'm glad you're still a fan of the N64 and PS2 era. They just don't hold up for me anymore! More for you and Brendan to enjoy haha
