And does the GMAT even matter?
Well yes, kind of. Your GMAT or GRE score is absolutely something you want as high as possible for your MBA application. Even if a great GMAT score is not enough to get into business school, a bad score might just keep you out of it.

Any insight on the 80% range? I’ve been coached to look at that range, too!

Hi Mercy! The 80% range will tell you if your GMAT is so low that you are in the danger zone (AKA below the bottom of that range). But look at the average to target the score you want for yourself. Try to get the highest score you can until you have maxed it out. Then target a mix of schools where your score is average, above average, and below average so you can aim high while also trying a safer school or two.
