Is your KTM 390 Adventure or Duke Engine Stalling?
If your KTM 390 Adventure or any other KTM motorcycle has stalling issues or erratic rpm fluctuations, you must watch this video.
My motorcycle had certain issues of rpm fluctuations and also engine stalling at lower rpms for a few months now.
Very many times while taking a U turn or while approaching a red light, the bike would simply stall. Such an engine stalling could be a dangerous thing while riding in busy traffic.
During the recent winter mornings, I saw very erratic rpm fluctuations and also engine stalling very often.
Earlier KTM workshop made an attempt to rectify the stalling issue along with a software update however problem of engine stalling carried on.
On 30 Nov 2021, when I visited the KTM workshop, Mayapuri, they had a very clear answer to this long pending issue and same was rectified completely in just about 20 minutes.
Actually this rectification involved cleaning of throttle body with a special liquid called the Intake Air System cleaner. The most important thing was about injecting this liquid under very high air pressure and by a special nozzle. The spraying of cleaner with running engine at various rpms for about 5 minutes insured proper cleaning of the throttle body and associated intake and exhaust system. The exhaust fumes smelled bad indicating a thorough cleaning of the intake system.
After this high pressure throttle body cleaning, engine rpm became quite stable and bike performed like a brand new machine without any engine stalling.
My KTM390 Adventure had done just about 6500 kms and as per the KTM service team now this task is performed on every motorcycle after around 5 to 6000 kms.
So if you are still facing any issue with respect to engine stalling or erratic rpm fluctuations, you may wish to visit any KTM workshop which has this special spraying device and the supplied Intake Air System cleaning liquid.

This was done twice on my bike... initially the feel is very good.. but after few 100 kms... the bike starts stalling again.... so this is not the solution for the stalling... this procedure was introduced after few of the owners in mumbai and pune escalated the matter to the higher officials... still the issue has not been resolved completely...

Yes, it only works for about 100 kms. I’ve get it cleaned once and they have charged me Rs 600. After 100 odd kms, the same stalling, cold start issue and delayed throttle response…

Do you think theres a need for a pre filter at the snorkel to prevent more dust from going in?

Have you heard of the quickshifter causing the drops in RPM?

My understanding the issue is the clutch switch 😊 and I'm going to strongly disagree cuz my bike had less than 10 mi on it and it's stalled now it has 300 has done it over 30 times it's not the throttle body being dirty especially when the bike is brand new I think these things are pieces of s*** and I never buy in mine I should know better my buddy had nothing but problems with this KTM Duke I should have learned my lesson about a Honda better quality

Im Facing the same ,especially in downshifts my bike has clocked around 3K Kms , the bike is stalling at lower speeds of 60 or 70 kms also specifically when i clutch an declucth

I changed the whole fuel pump and throttle body...new ones...still got the stalling issue while on idle rpm and while applying clutch.

This engine has high compression ratio with lean idle fueling and doesn't run well at low rpm on low octane fuel. I have almost no stalling if I use 97+ RON fuel

Thank you for the information. I see lot of people going for 47 teeth rear sprocket as well. Please put your thoughts on that.

Not needed as bike already has enough of torque.

With a throttle by wire if you start changing sprockets your gonna have all sorts of issues. If you that concerned with such tiny upgrades to power you probably need a bigger bike.

I'm worried about this matter, I want to buy this motorcycle this month, and it scares me a little that with so little mileage you suffer problems that my engine stops. Because until now I see these problems when in other videos they do not speak absolutely anything about it, may it be bad luck of some?

Hello, thanks for the video. I am also facing the same issue on my new Ktm duke 390 2024 model in Canada so I gave my bike for service since its under warranty. I am facing the issues at high speeds when I pull in my clutch and release the throttle at 110 km per hour so did you face stalling issue again after servicing your bike ????

Actually, in India, it has more to do with dusty conditions. Keeping air filter clean or using other filters with oil like the BMC or K&N seems to help a lot. Also, any compromise made in pulling the clutch at low speeds should be avoided. If you are facing this issue at higher speeds, it could be a different issue.

i crash my 690 beacuse of this bullshit engine stalling clean everything replace starter fuse 3 of emm start normal but still feel bit of stalling

@@WingstoWheels Just got my bike fixed. Ktm Pune made me spend useless money on my bike and wasted lot of days. The problem was with the rectifier which had spoiled my battery and headlights and also causing overheating leading to Abs failure (actual failure and not just meter error). Parts changed Rectifier Battery Radiator fan Abs ring rear new coolant and Headlight bulbs Ktm Chembur just solved this in 3hrs. But thanks for your video. This was very helpful.
