As a former EMT and EMS Instructor I love how you make a distinction between a boo boo kit and the trauma kit. First Aid is just like any other skill set, especially for non medics. If you don't get to know your equipment, where it is and how to get it quickly when the crap is hitting the fan you might as well not have it. A lot of people buy a kit and never open it till it's needed. That's a big no no. To learn the gear you need to handle it even to the point of buying a second one to train with. Expensive but hey it's a life saving device. Thanks for sharing this Randall.

I coach on a kids mountain bike team and several other head coaches went to a wilderness survival class where they also happened to sell their own "Trauma kits" dang things are like grandmas junk drawer the lip balm included in the trauma kit was the final straw I made my own trauma kit and carry it. The boo boo kit is separate.

Is this a buildout you would recommend or would you add/subtract anything from it? And any ideas where i could look for classes? I can pack wounds and apply tourniquets but airway devices and chest seals especially are things idk really anything about and would like to learn more.
@steveturner39992 ай бұрын
@@TacticoolVIKINGBeard I like most aspects of this kit. As far as training goes look to your local EMS or Fire service for suggestions. Red Cross is going to give just basic First Aid for the most part. The airway is definitely something that requires training on. As an EMT our kits had at least two different sizes for NPA's and three or more for OPA's. All based on the size of the airway and thus one of the needs for training. There are definite indications and contraindications for their use.
@Doc-Holliday17763 ай бұрын
As a medic, I love the fact these kits are around. There are somethings like the nasal pharyngeal airway that you should have training on, or you could do more harm than good. People should remember that whatching TV showes dose not make you a medic, call 911 and try to stop or slow down the bleeding. Never do more than what you have training for. Awesome video.

Every time someone mentions NPA's, I am whisked away to my childhood when in grade school, my classmates & I would insult each other saying "up your nose with a rubber hose". LOL. When I started learning about first aid in Boy Scouts, I found out what THAT was! 🤣🤣🤣

I built several of my own kits, one each for my car, truck, ruck, trauma kit on my chest rig, sourced everything directly from North American Rescue and other suppliers. I was not an EMT but still a first responder so I know the value of having the essentials within arm's reach when SHTF.

The thermal blanket is there for ANY person that has lost any amount of blood. They ARE going to be at a temperature deficit due to the blood loss. It might be 95 degrees out but if theyve lost enough blood they will be cold and hypothermia is a risk.

As a paramedic the only thing I would change is offering kits with different sized gloves, not everyone is a large or medium and a smaller NPA, a 24 or 26. And the FR stands for French (no idea why but it's on all our NPAs too).

Hi, thanks for your time. I been taking 1st aid for nearly 2 decades (for work purposes) Overtime I began creating my own. Eventually I started to use a old school metal one put inside another bag for carrying. The metal case protects the contents much better and in situations that warrant it, it also turns into a sweet impromptu self defense tool.

Build out your own kit and save a decent amount of money. You can buy almost all the same stuff and save $50 for sure. Or spend at least the same and get some hemostatic bandages in the kit for good measure.

You know there is something most folks don’t know unless your a EMT or LEO but I found out from my son in law he was Leo but he couldn’t do to citizens what they wanted him to do. But back on point. EMT has gear that has expiration date on them like chest seals and such that just get throw away or they will give to you if buddy’s with them. And most are good for a long time. You can get top notch gear free most of the time. No meds just everything else you can dream of. If it’s in ambulance it has a date. As afar as the rest we are just a tight knit community on dead end road. Master of nothing but we can fix it rude it or grow it and have young to old everyday skills to live of the land and was raised this way to ex military people in our community. Some of us have $$$$$$ to help with there lack of skill to bring to table others like me are broke af but my family always has been but we don’t need much that had to be bought. We ant bought meat in 30 years lol just tight group of folks that will stand or die together once the bad folk find us

You know, I saw TREX arms sells individual FAK components on their site, and they look like good quality. Seems like a very efficient way to build out a FAK, would be a cool video to put together 2 or 3 different FAKS piece by piece, maybe a combat IFAK, and then a vehicle FAK and a home FAK or an EDC FAK.

You should check out the IFAKs from Refuge Medical. American made with the best components. No Chinese bs. They guarantee their kits for life. They will replace components you use if a situation comes up that you have to, to save someone's life. Lots of different kit options from personal kits to mass casualty. Definitely worth the investment on them.

Can’t have enough gloves. Through experience I don’t recommend those nice rolled gloves with the tape on them. Was first on a TC just to have them come apart. Medical always gets over looked. Different bleeds need different kinds of wound care capillary Venus and arterial. Do you use an NPA on some one with facial trauma? Do you cover both eyes on some one with a single eye injury?

As a normal guy (not a warrior), is it more advantageous to carry in my pant's pocket as EDC a tourniquet or an "Israeli" bandage?
@JohnUSMC03113 ай бұрын
I would argue a TQ is better. Far better to shut off a major hemorrhage NOW than worry about bandage later when you’re off the “X”. Just my two cents from someone who’s had to put TQ on a couple times for real in bad areas. Sorry if the question was for Randall. Just found his channel.

Bandages can be improvised. TQs cannot
@foobar92293 ай бұрын
@@GruntProof I asked because I saw in a tutorial video that an "israeli" bandage can have "some" tourniquet effect if we twist the bandage with the plastic locker which is at the end of the bandage.

@@GruntProof Bullshit! have you ever heard of a belt?
@JohnUSMC03113 ай бұрын
@@GruntProof You can’t improvise a TQ? Really? What TCCC training did you attend in the “army”? You literally need a strap and a stick(windlass) to improvise a TQ. It can be made out of anything. So some clarification is desperately needed here. You absolutely can improvise a TQ so do not intentionally give bad info to people who are legitimately asking questions and seeking knowledge. You are placing yourself in an “instructor “ role and failing to instruct properly.

One bag for boo-boos; another for get home; another for trauma and SHTF. If one is none and two is one, why not have one extra (trauma) for the backup to the other two. I had a 68 Whiskey give me that advice a couple of years ago. I thought he was on the mark, so I took his advice.

Where do you sit? Who's your allegience to? What factions do you support internationally? Do you condemn the crimes of American interventionism? What is your political affiliation? If your answers are "USA! USA! USA! USA!" then you might not be the freedom fighter you think you are. I am curious, though, because you are very ambiguous when it comes to things like this. Though I suppose you to also be a paranoic guy who thinks the US government watches you with drones (which might actually be true btw) so I kinda expect you to not want to answer these questions. Still, thought I'd ask.
