im trying to understand why my patriot viper 2x8 kit runs way better at 3200 than my corsair lpx 2x16 at the same speed. the corsair kit is dual rank and the patriot viper kit is single rank samsung b-die and it absolutly shits all over the lpx kit for latency and read/write bandwidth again at the same freq. this seams literally opposite of what this video suggests. cpu this was tested with is a r5 3600 oc'd to 4.5ghz all core. also the samsung b-die can handle more voltage for daily (up to 1.5 vdram) which means i can push it waaayyyy farther than the lpx ram. can easily run 3600 cl14.
@yourhommiemyhommie75483 жыл бұрын
You could return it because dual rank ram does make a difference but it might be fine because what they didn't meantion is if you're planning on ram overclocking most likely you will be able to get better speed and timings than with a dual rank kit.

Depending on how old it is (or just faulty), it could also be a sign of the hard drive dying. The transfer of memory from RAM to HDD is very slow to begin with, but it slows down even farther when the HDD is worn down. If the S.M.A.R.T. status is anything but "healthy", you need to get it replaced ASAP.

It is easy: You need enough CPU cores and power to access and process thee ram your using. Exampel‘s are Dual Core Quad for two 2GB RAM sticks and Quad Core for four RAM sticks up to 32 GB combined. For evrithing else you need more cores like Rizen. Or at least a 8core CPU from Intel. With Hyperthreading you will have more options and lower Latency on processing as an backup to the normal cores but it can as well leed to interferences depending on the system and Software.

Hey so glad I found your video! Was wondering why this "number of ranks" parameter is almost never talked about in RAM upgrade how-to-videos & articles... Yet when I went online shopping for new RAM, I stumbled on this 1Rx8 vs 2Rx8 parameter, even for a same model of RAM sticks (HyperX FURY 3200 has the two types). Now, do you happen to know if it is ok to mix the two types (1Rx8 + 2Rx8)? My HP Omen 30L already has a HyperX FURY 3200 2Rx8, but last week I ordered a HyperX FURY 3200 1Rx8 to add beside it, will it work? Would have been better if it was a 2Rx8 I guess? Thanks in advance!

One question, I bought two ram sticks of the exact same brand, model, frequency, size… the only thing that is different is the rank, one is single, the other is double… is there any problem using both?
