Excellent advice Jory! And here's another fun experiment: do the caliper measurement as shown (on the 'watch side' of your wrist), then do it again on the underside of your wrist (palm up position). Notice anything weird? Did your wrist get about 8mm wider? I think the twist in the wrist bones make the measurement smaller when measured it the 'telling the time' position.

Great Video! The lug to lug size is everything to me. I like watches with a lug to lug of 45mm or 46cm. So, this eliminates time I don't have to spend looking at watches outside of my desire lug to lug requirement. Cheers.

In addition to lug-to-lug, recently i have noticed that the dial size is actually as important as l2l. A watch with small dial will always wear smaller regardless of other dimensions

There's also the illusion of a smaller dial when there is lot of space that is used up with font and complications. The cleaner/more minimal the dial, the bigger it wears.

the size of the dial is a better indicator of how big a watch looks. A 40 mm dive watch is A okay but a 40 mm dress watch is ridiculously oversized because it’s all dial.

I have about a 7.5" wrist. Usually wear a 34mm Hamilton Khaki Officer. Classical field watch size. Looks great. Not too small at all.

Wear what you like. Who cares about the size of a watch. Obviously the obnoxiously large department store brands are made to stand out so that’s another story but no one should never get a Breitling Navitiner because they have a small wrist. Your dream watch is your dream watch. Period. I have never ever seen or heard anyone tell someone else that they should take off a watch because it looks too large or too small on them. Get what makes you happy.

I enjoy watche's at alot different sizes. My 14060m is a 40mm Explorer 114270 36mm Breitling Super ocean 44mm Heuer 981.006 41mm Heuer 272.006 , Heuer Coral 980 026 and a Tag Heuer Night diver 989 113 that are 38mm and last is a 47mm Seiko tuna Marine master SBBN035 but wears alot smaller. I have a watch for each mood😅

Recently bought the 35mm Tissot PRX. Love that fuckin thing dude. I usually stick with 38-42mm with my 7 inch wrist. It really all comes down to preference. The amount of people on Reddit I see that say “too small for your wrist” “too big” etc.

lug-to-lug is important, regardless the case size. also with square/rectangular watches, they always wears bigger than their size (eg. a 35mm wears like a 39/40mm).. another one is that, most ppl look at pictures n specs and already puts them off with those infos… best is to go to the watch shop n try them on..

Selecting a watch is a very personal proposition. Picking the right watch size for your wrist is similar to choosing a painting for a room. You cannot get a painting that bigger than the room. You also have to try on the watch on your wrist in the flesh so to speak to properly determine if it right for you.

I have the opposite problem, with a 7.5 inch wrist I've found a few times that watches can barely be able to fit me regardless of the dial size and lug width

6ft tall with 6.5in. wrist here. My watches are 42 to 43mm in dia. They actually look good on me IMO. Smaller wrist actually make my wrist look small.

The answer? It depends - different case styles / sizes wear differently on any wrist - sometimes a larger watch will work on even a small wrist - and sometimes small watches work well on larger wrists - the solution? Try before you buy

Dude I have a 9 1/4" wrist. I had to buy 4 extra links for both my Aquaracer (I know I know, shut up lol) and my Breitling. There's a rare naro strap I can get to fi too. Point being there's guys out there that make a 48 look good lol
