You cannot compare the taxation like this. We must bear in mind the strength of currency between dollar vs rupee and the purchasing power parity. $50000 USD income per year is considered lower middle class in USA whereas $50000 (40 lakhs per year) in India is considered HNI (high net worth individuals). You should compare in terms of %. In USA, there is a slab in capital gain tax same as regular income. LTCG could very between 0% to 20% and STCG 10% to 37% depending on your capital gain.

In other countries where tax rates are high, there is excellent infrastructure. Corruption is very high in India, infrastructure is poor. The tax base is low and the government instead of increasing the tax base is burdening the existing taxpayers with higher taxes, cess and surcharge. The budget is only a futile exercise. There is no consistency in government policies.
