My feelings after the game- Isaac Wilson just keeps getting better. He outperformed Bryson Barnes and is an exciting future QB1. USU was a perfect warm-up to go info conference play. A fiesty in-state rival that has a lot to prove and will fight to the end led by a QB that knows your team is a great challenger leading into OK St. Yesterday's game did a lot to prep us for next week.

Utah State really has some athletes. Good win for Wilson & the Utes. After a really rough start from Wilson I was puckering my butt that first quarter not gonna lie.

Slow start for sure, but impressive performance by Wilson and the offense. As for the defense…… well they definitely need to step it up next week. Otherwise we’re not gonna have a snowball chance in hell at Stillwater next week.

@@robertpearce4316Utah was trying out a little different look on defense due to Barnes knowing it. When it was not working, Utah went back to their usual packages and only allowed 7 points. As far as penalties I hope you are talking about USU because Utah had one penalty for 15 yards for the game.

@@Tobyoneal64 ??? All defenses try different schemes to adapt to the opponent. I could say the same thing about UCF letting TCU pass all over us 1st half until they went to zone. Your using it as an excuse is lame. All teams do that every game until they find what works THAT game

I’m with you. I don’t mind the first 14 points given the defense and effort and energy USU came out with. They came out sprinting in a marathon. Our defense and offense buckled down and won on talent. I just wish we had gotten out of the last USU scoring drive on the first 4th down play. OSU has a top 15 offense and bottom 15 defense. Obviously don’t know about competition yet, but Utah needs to keep OSU in check. Can we score against their D? Can we slow down their offense?

Slow down JT yes the O-line showed some weakness early on but USU was blitzing 6-7 defenders so someone is going to get through and disrupt things which is when they should have started running screen plays to keep them at bay. As soon as Wilson made them back off and USU stopped blitzing as often there were a lot of very clean pockets and he stood in there and picked their secondary apart. I still want improvement but I think your eval is a little harsh.

Maybe. We will get to find out next week. I wanted Utah to dominate the line of scrimmage from start to finish against Utah State. They didn’t but they did play better in the 2nd half. So I’m curious to see how that unit performs in their first big test at Stillwater

Isaac was actually fantastic! His accuracy does leave something to be desired, but the receivers left 7 drops on the field including the ball that went through Kuithe’s hands. Yes the dropped balls were a little high but it hit both hands of the receivers in each case. That’s unacceptable. For such a small stadium it was a really good atmosphere and a hostile environment, it was a great taste of what is to come next week for the rest of the team and for Isaac it was a great growth game that gave me a lot of confidence in the qb room now and moving forward

It was Utah State… he threw against Utah State Your defense gave up 21 points and you only scored 38 pts… against Utah State Some high school team named “Robert Morris” was able to score twice against and hold Utah State to 36 points before this, so… 😏 It’s indicative that you might not be as tough as you think you are on away games, and your depth is still an open question Which will matter in the B12, especially since you play OKSU, ASU and UCF away later…

@@savannahfan 😂😂😂 you see questions but the Utes just got more answers than you think. Guaranteed Cam Rising could have played if needed but he didn’t need to. Utah’s defense was trying out new schemes against USU because they were confident enough to know that this game was in the bag. Pocket was clean for the entire 2nd half and Wilson picked them apart. OSU will be a tough game but your analysis shows that you know nothing about Utah other than the game you just watched. Not to mention credit USU played one of the best games they ever have, the stadium was rocking, and Bryson Barnes and his WRs were clicking.

The second half of the previous game (against a so-so poorly coached Baylor) you ground to a halt from just one Gatorade table impact Now you are getting all giddy about a great showing, against a in-State nobody and a marginal showing against a marginal in state opponent. Congrats on being the best ranked team in Utah 🙄 I’m guessing your visit to OK State will look exactly like UCF’s visit to Fort Worth. It will be ugly and physical and you will probably juuuust win. But your weaknesses will show more clearly against a real opponent. You do have an easy schedule against familiar opponents (like Baylor), but some of the teams are better than expected this season (ASU, TCU, BYU), and winning in the road will be the real challenge I’ve said it before on here, your biggest problem will be depth, if injuries stack up you are gonna have a real tough time with Iowa State and UCF as a result.

@@savannahfan 😂😂😂you’re hilarious thank you for the comedic relief. BYU is complete trash so you saying that they are better than expected weakens your comment a lot. It sounds like you might be a BYU fan but maybe I’m wrong. Utah’s toughest conference game other than potentially the conference championship if they make it there is this coming Saturday because KSU isn’t in their schedule. There are other formidable opponents that they play for sure and maybe Utah drops 1-2 games but they are going to be games that they shouldn’t drop. I think the funniest thing here is that you know that Utah is one of the top teams in the Big 12 or you wouldn’t be here listening or commenting. Maybe a rocky start but as you will find Utah shows up when they need to. Do they play down to the level of lesser opponents occasionally? Yes! But when it’s time to show up they do and I can promise you that the most dangerous thing anyone can do is underestimate Utah #USC #LincolnRiley. You might not believe in Utah but give it time and you will. But by the sounds of it you’re already jaded against them which is sad and I can’t speak to the portion of idiotic Utes fans that say stupid things about this conference or are overinflated and ungrateful for what they have been given. Most of us try to be better than that.

Once Utah has a large enough lead, Whit shuts down the offense, runs the ball very few passes and just runs clock. There was no need to score any more points. The game was already over.

Wilson was good. Needs to work on his ball placement but he did about as well as an 18 year old freshman making his first start can do. I agree, we need Reid back by next week. He is such a difference maker on the defense. Calhoun impressed, not just on the pick either. I think you missed the injury for Davis, the guy he replaced. Hopefully he is ok. We are getting thin at corner!
