Great video tutorial. I’d like to add, when I did my Easter and Halloween decorations I used paper templates. So when you’re at Lowe’s getting the insulation board, also grab a length of the brown paper roll they have by the exit. Draw your design on the paper, cut it out and trace on as many decorations as you want to make.

These are all very cute. Will have to convince the hubs that it's ok to use insulation board for more than insulation. I would paint a black dot in the center of the "eyes" prior to painting the white to add more interest to the eyes. I love your creative use of ornaments to decorate these. Thanks for sharing. Best to you.
@sethhendrix49252 ай бұрын
To make these more waterproof and outdoor-friendly, you should coat the whole thing with Drylock before painting. It will give the foam a solid shell and a slightly gritty texture (which mimics the look of bread even more). Should be about $30 for a full can at Home Depot. Also - for anyone who's curious - based on this video, full cost per gingerbread man looks to be about $100 of material approx. You can save some money by purchasing the foamboards at Home Depot instead of Lowe's.

I was wondering how they would hold up if it rained. I am not a good crafter so I need to ask is Drylock a spray or something that I would have to mix?

I absolutely love these!!! This is actually my theme for Christmas this year. The only thing I felt needed to be different is the eyes, I really don't care for the sold white. Maybe make black circles or ovals for the pupils of the eyes. I really don't know what but I think they would look better. I'm not trying to put yours down at all, they are great, just the white ones freak me out. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us and God bless you and your family this holiday season and the new year coming.

HI Isaac, Great idea and how to. I Positioned the arms slightly down verses up and I was able to get a 6ft GB man that was pretty well proportioned. THx for sharing the knowledge. One suggestion for others I found make sure you make your cuts kinda on the fast side. If you try to go slow the blade will heat up and melt your line rather than cut the line.

2 inch insulation foam is almost impossible to get now and I just found your channel, do you think 1 inch would work or would it be too flexible?
@foechicken80232 жыл бұрын
I did find some at Home Depot but it's $40 a sheet. I wonder if doubling it up would work. Diorama makers use similar foam to build the bases for their dioramas to build up terrain. I am going to investigate. If I can make it work then I could make three smaller ones from two sheets adhered together. I love the idea.
