It's amazing to think how all the skaters who awe us with their grace and power in their young adult years skated just like this little one when they started. Congratulations on your great performance last week, Isabeau!

Well put. And it certainly puts perspective on how world class skaters almost need to be developed as soon as they learn to walk. It's like the brain and body need to grow into this skill or it never really happens. I know a lot of people feel uneasy about this process. I've certainly had my doubts, especially as far as the Russian system works. But...I don't know how else this can be done. Not with the way we're pushing the sport now.
