It’s only now that I watch it again that I realize that Isabella had been expecting rejection for acting unlike her perfect self. At 2:25, she looks so down. But when someone accepts her struggles and feels happy for Isabella embracing her true nature (as not the dainty flowery girl her grandmother wanted of her), she becomes more confident. That’s truly when Mirabel and Isabella stand up and start to sing with each other, and notice how Isabella sings loudly and joyously. It’s so different from how she sang in the earlier song-Don’t Talk About Bruno. She had that soft, pizzicato, elegant pizzicato style. Compared to this song, she sounded more confined and restrained there. Now she’s so open, raising her voice as she ran around the rooftop in happiness. She got all that hope from Mirabel’s acceptance. Like man, I really felt for her in this song.

Right!! I'm neurodivergent and I've had to mask my entire life and live up to the label of "gifted kid", and listening to it makes me yearn for when I get to move out and be my own person. Not even Isabella is stick thin, the closest one is maybe Pepa? But there's still healthy people with her body type. I rarley see figures like Mirabels or Isabellas in media. Ik that seeing a plus sized women makes others feel more accepted; and while it's better than the super skinny actors you see constantly, I just feel more accepted by a more middle, average body type just not being a big deal. It's not glamorize, nor hated upon, it's just.. a body. I think we've forgotten that.
