it is kinda funny for me, seeing so many people say they hated her until what else can i do (and even after). i’m the eldest child in my family, so I empathised with her and immediately clocked the way she put on a mask to meet everyone’s expectations. The writers and directors did a really good job in subtly portraying that even before she revealed it. Honestly, both Luisa and Isabela were really relatable as older siblings, especially daughters.

Mirabel and Isabela’s relationship wasn’t good because BOTH of them actually envied the other, believing that the other person had an easier life than their own. Isabela envied Mirabel’s “freedom” from crippling expectations while Mirabel envied that Isabela was Abuela’s favorite with the family’s high hopes placed on her. When they actually got to communicate properly with each other, they realized that neither had it easy. In the song, Mirabel encouraged Isabela to just do what makes her happy while Isabela showed Mirabel that she was thankful for that (giving her the acknowledgment that Mirabel had always sought after from the family).

Mirabel is the Scapegoat, especially because she also has no powers- just like Alma. And Alma only lets Isabella use her powers as Alma herself sees fit. @@joaovictor_of Yeah, I have to agree with you on that one. She was just misunderstood by Mirabel (who we as the audience see through). Also, in regards to Zuko’s arc, I wouldn’t say she could even really be compared. Zuko’s character was built up through three long seasons and he had to earn forgiveness and trust from the gang, whereas Isa simply changed through a single song. Zuko learns lots of life lessons and reevaluates his whole outlook on life, as well as his loyalties completely shifting, while Isa just learns it’s okay to open up and be herself, haha. Not saying Isa is a bad character at all, and I love her a lot, but Zuko 100% has more depth and growth to his character

It's funny how I see people who didn't understand before the song,ya know. There were so many clues, first with her reaction to when abuela talked about her marriage for the first time, then the 5 baby's reaction, her last part on Bruno's song. I don't know if it was cause I know what it's like doing something you don't want for the family's sake(being something you're not, keeping face for others people sake), even if I'm one of the youngest. I just saw through the mask, I don't know. (And the fact the most she ever talked was with Mirabel, even if to be mean to her, she never ever talked back to no one else, I felt that)

As someone who grew up expected to be the perfect gold children and had everyone’s wishes and dreams ridding on my back I liked her from the get-go but I very happy to see her get the chance to let go of all that pressure and fear of not being perfect. I don’t blame others for feeling negative towards golden children but I think a lot of people need to know that they are under unfair levels of pressure and everyone’s expectations too the difference is that we have to torture ourselves over making sure that how we present never EVER gives a sign to our struggle and misery, breaking away and letting myself fail and be myself was the best decision of my life.
