Good interpretation of scripture. Always pleasant to hear sound teachings. Your plentiful and appropriate use of cross references give so much credence to explaining Isaiah 17. Thank you for rightly dividing the Words of Truth. God truly does know the end from the beginning!

Donna - your question asks if there is a *possible* link between the 2. I'll go out on a limb and contend that it is not only *plausible* but even *probable* that these 2 events will converge (soon), and their mutual prophetic fulfillments will happen nearly simultaneously, within a 12 hour period. I also contend that after our departure (catching away), God's prophetic program will finally resume. I believe God will do so by "luring" Gog of Magog towards Israel by putting a hook into their jaw. He will entice them, lure them, by their; a) greed for riches, b) thirst for power, c) hatred for Israel. As the allied armies of the attacking forces joining Gog in northern Syria (as is the case presently), march towards Israel, these armies *MUST* pass through Damascus to take Israel's booty/spoils (oil & gas) in the Golan Heights. When they reach Damascus, what a perfect timing to destroy Damascus (as promised), and annihilate Gog (as promised), at the very same time. A double whammy of sorts. This would also fulfill another promise God made, that by their destruction, *_"they will know that I am God."_* If they are destroyed by fire & brimstone, there can be no confusion as to Who was responsible. What a powerful way to make a statement, to let everyone know that the prophetic program has resumed. Please keep in mind that I'm not a teacher, I can only offer you my personal interpretation.

​@@Norman.Labelle Wow this was said by you 3 yrs ago and is appearing to be right on! I am studying this, and am realizing that Damascus will not fall until we are raptured! Because Isaiah 17 talks of this destruction occurring at a time when Israel is waning which isn't yet! Everyone is waifor Damascus to fall, but it won't be yet! Wow. I'm just trying to figure out exactly where we are in prophesy at this moment!! Israel is beginning her trouble for sure! But the seas are raging!!!! All the arabs worldwide protesting in the streets by the millions! Europe is taken over! But in just the last few days America is ramping up with the same seas roaring! Wow the rapture has to be any moment! Its all going to go down faster and faster!!!!

@@Norman.Labelle Well, bear in mind that this is a prophecy that deals with an Israel, gathered from all nations, being a 'city' without walls.. This cannot be said about the land they call Israel today with their 'Iron dome' protection. Personnally, and I am an everlasting student of the mysteries and prophecies of God, in no way an expert or teacher (besides teacher of art). Ever since I studied what is meant by "Jerusalem", I find it must mean the people of God. I even read it this morning again: Isaiah 62:10-12 ....12: "and they shall call them, the holy people, the redeemed of Yahweh, and thou shall be called, "Sought out", A CITY NOT FORSAKEN."

If we can’t have prophesy fulfilled until the next dispensation how is it Israel becoming a nation in one day happened? Right now we are seeing Psalm 83 being fulfilled and the age is grace is still here. Apologies?
