An overall solid album and arguably Isaiah's best work. The production is soulful yet aggressive at times, all of the features are amazing (SZA and 6LACK on "Score" 🔥), and even though I wanted more from his performance as a rapper on here he manages to convey so much sorrow, pain, and brokenness yet still have some comedic lines as well as a sense of optimism for what the future holds for him as both an artists and man. Overall, this project is one of the best of the year. Also, From the Garden might be the hardest beat of the year and Uzi went crazy on his feature, and I hope he and Isaiah collab more in the future because MAN they work well. Honestly to me this album is Isaiah fully realizing his own sound. On Cilvia Demo and Suns Tirade you catch glimpses of what he does on this album. Yes this album is definitely a story of the past few years for him, but also to me this is also Zays interpretation of raps current soundscape. His flows and hooks are so fucking sticky on this goddamn album. An personally I don’t mind the laid back flow, like with Vince Staples album a low key flow makes me pay attention more and Zay has some fucking lines on here. This album is definitely not for everyone including some Zay favs. But man after 2-3 listens you really start feeling what he was going for. He hit the commercial ears very quick with this release. A lot of people who listen to people like drake lil baby etc don’t know of him. So, once they put a ear up to listen, they come in with bias opinions because they see names they know like SZa uzi and 6lack. There like who is this guy, he’s ass. Just cus they don’t know. They do the same with artist coming up. A lot of people give bad opinions immediately because the music is different then everything people hear now a days. A lot of this album had good vibrations. Majority of Music now a days has notes associated with sadness. A lot of music now a days makes you more sad than actually filling that void.

Zay has drifted from being a lyrical content driven rapper. He now imo puts more emphasis on production and hooks. Which disappoints me cuz he has that ability as we saw on many of his past songs and even going toe to toe with Kendrick on the song “Wats Wrong”. I feel like he doesn’t want that expectation of being that lyrical guy due to his all star roster of a label he is signed to TDE, so he’s trying to carve out his own lane and possibly under sale his abilities as an MC so he won’t feel the pressure

@@NFRPodcast I really enjoyed it, ended up playing it 3 times beginning to end, no shuffling and I didn't get the urge to skip any songs at all. It is still very very fresh material so we gotta give it time. For transparency, I think that's something you guys could do in the future when talking music, maybe speak on how your perspective changed as you listened to previous projects over time because we all know how important that is. I really enjoyed it honestly, that Jay Rock song is my favorite and then Darkseid at #2. I wouldn't call it a flawless masterpiece but I definitely think it sounded great. A solid 8.5/10 on overall performance. definitely measures up to his other two projects for me. It sounded really concentrated and it really felt like he took his time to enjoy the album making process and craft something beautiful. Rap has been in a tough place for a bit now, the least 3 years at least and then with all the stuff going on in the world I feel like people are just channeling their frustrations into things that don't deserve it, like Zays new album to give one example.

Definitely satisfied with the album. It’s no Cilvia Demo or Sun’s Tirade but I knew that going in and I didn’t want to have high expectations at all. I just wanted to hear Zay after not hearing him with so long. And with that being said it was better than I expected it to be. I agree the lyrics could have been slightly better but as far as vibing out, I think this tracklist will do just that for me. Definitely keeping this in rotation all year and I look forward to seeing where Isaiah goes in the future.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts Lane! I do agree that this album deserves repeat listens🔥

I can respect that. This is Zay's worst project to me because I had too high expectations but that doesn't mean the album itself is the worst. I appreciate it for what it is and I love Zay and his efforts and definitely will be bumping the album, but as a fan I'm a little let down. The concept of the title of the album could have been much better integrated throughout the album than it was even though it's apparently not a "concept album"

Rashad style is very vibey and lazy. Its like he wants to sound slowed and skewed. Its either you like it, or you dont! I Love it!

Y'all slept on this album man! The first time I heard the album. It was not good. I played 4 more times and still didn't like it. I stopped listening to the album as a whole and just played random tracks. This shit is really great. All Herb slaps hard.

Yup i knew if i listen to it whole it would change listening experience so I didn't do that

It pains me to say it but this album mid honestly... I'm not hating, I love zay and I love cilvia demo and the sun's tirade. I mean cilvia demo is probably my favorite hip hop album, but when you compare them to this album its just not as good. Not to say there aren't some good tracks but for waiting 5 years, I'm pretty disappointed

Yea, that is the rough truth i have been struggling with😔

I think people are going into this album with 2 perspectives. One person expects a concept and immersive album experience and another person just goes in wanting good songs. The second perspective is the only way i could see the album being good. There are some pretty good songs that i will listen to seperate from the album.......but GOLYYYY there are some MISSES. This makes it hard to listen to the album straight thru....which is why I personally think it was mid for me too.

This album was really nightmarish. Lots of themes of trauma and toxicity. The lyrics and the lifestyle aren't something to be celebrated. I feel like the last song was meant to be a message that the black ghetto in America is a representation of the deep decent we've made from our glory in Africa as sovereign people before the slave trade.
