সকাল ৭টা ১৮ তে, হামাসের আ'ক্রম'ণের প্রথম ঘন্টায় বিভাগীয় সদর দফতরের দেওয়া আদেশটি ছিল ‘হ্যানিবল এট ইরেজ’। ইরেজ হলো ইসরায়েলের দক্ষিনাঞ্চলের একটি এলাকা। পরে তদন্তে উঠে আসে যে ইরেজে ৩টি সামরিক স্থাপনায় এই নির্দেশনা পাঠানো হয়েছিল।
