I also feel I may have been influenced by other people’s opinions particularly the extreme negative ones. Now that 3 years has gone by, I reread the final book weeks earlier to prepare for the final episode. I definitely remember liking the ending far more but still wondering if this was a good conclusion to the series. Now that the final episode is out and the anime did a good job adapting the final book, along with the dialogue changes/extensions that I feel adds more weight to the story. I know now I really the ending.

Eren’s character since day one reflects the ending clearly, regardless if Isayama changed the ending or alter the ending a bit. Eren has stated multiple times when he was a kid that he wanted to kill all of “them” meaning the titans, however when Eren realized titans wasn’t the enemy, he switch his focus to the real enemy. Personally I didn’t like the fact that Eren died at the end but once again it suits his character well, all Eren wanted was for his people to be safe no matter what, Eren realized that life isn’t black and white, him and Reiner in a way are damn near the same. Reiner did what he did despite his humanity and Eren saw for himself that the world want nothing but the extermination of the Eldians. Eren committing genocide is perfect for his character because he’s indeed killing all of “them” (meaning his enemies). Eren dying I think is a way of him dealing with all the deaths that he caused and he made sure it was done by his friends to help show the remaining humans that Eldians aren’t heartless devils. Honestly the ending is perfect because it reflects reality a bit and that is war never truly ends with any real victors, everyone suffers and everyone loses. AOT is not meant to have a happy ending, I’m surprised most of those who survived actually survived.

If that's only the interpretation then it would be fine. But no, it turns out that Eren manipulated majority of the Attack Titan shifters, including Griesha, for him to be born and to have the Founding Titan, he even killed his own mom. Like who the hell does that just for freedom? Heck if he was described as someone with mental disability then its fine because no person, healthy or not, would even do that. So honestly Ymir is the mc not Eren. She created Eren so that she could get out of her 2000 years suffering. Eren is not even a character in the story, he's just a plot device. I think its bad ending. Even if Isayama had thought to create the story with the most shocking plot twist, the execution if his ideas are very rushed. It's disappointing how a great story would only degrade because of its ending.

you realize he changed the ending for the FANS. that's why there is outrage. the original ending is actually dark, actually good and actually what he planned from the start. but it all got thrown in the trash bc he dint want to upset fans with all their favorite characters being brutally rumbled. edit: the extra credit scene was later added, when the chapter first dropped it ended optimistically.
@StumbIingforward Жыл бұрын
@@rebertosmith9524If the author changed the story then he did it for a reason. I trust the guy to not let fans decide the fate of his life’s work and incredible story. Whatever the case, I’m happy it turned out the way it did because to me it’s perfect. You want Eren to have succeeded and killed all of his loved ones? That goes against everything Eren has ever done or said. And why? Just because it’s the edgiest and darkest thing you can think of? That’s as simple as it gets. It takes so much away from Eren and the message of the show. Just for the shock factor? It just seems like something an edgy teenager would want. Eren learned that pride is bullshlt. And saving just the island Eldians is a stupid goal, there are tons of Eldians not on the island that Eren will be killing anyways, so what’s the point in killing his family to save those on the island? It makes no sense whatsoever. Also, you wanted our main heroes to all be killed and not have any of them be redeemed or live on to be legends that saved humanity? That alone is ridiculous and makes it not possible to take it seriously.
@rebertosmith9524 Жыл бұрын
@@StumbIingforward first off isayama litterally changed the ending for the fans (he said he went online and saw how people thought it would end so he changed it to suit them). as for Eren, no its clear he dint want to kill his friends just like he dint want to kill ramzi but it was the only way(for his goals of protecting the ISLAND AND HISTORIA. NOT HIS FRIENDS SAFETY, FOR THAT HE HAD PLENTY MORE OPTIONS). that would be the entire point and if you think that's dumb whats even worse that is now canon is that he killed his own mother for literally no logical reason(that's actual "shock value". sure maybe you could argue he wouldn't kill mikasa & armin but that's it, hes already gotten sasha and hange killed so clearly not much different then connie, jean or levi. and as for falco and gabi i can understand him being hesitant bc they are just children but he already is killing millions of innocent children. then there is annie pieck and reiner? how the hell is he okay with killing hange & sasha but not these three? if you truly were happy with this ending that's perfectly valid and your opinion, my issue is people calling this series a masterpiece when the ending clearly has flaws.
@StumbIingforward Жыл бұрын
@@rebertosmith9524 If he changed the ending before he actually ended it, then he did so because he thought that’s what was best for the story. I simply don’t believe he changed the ending specifically to suit what fans wanted/were expecting. Based on the entire story, the guy tends to go the opposite way of the expected. I don’t believe he altered his own life’s work over online comments. Again, regardless of what decision led to it, I’m glad it happened the way it did. Become the ending we got is exactly how it should have ended in my opinion. Here’s the thing, why would Eren care more about the people on the island and Historia than the girl he loves and his best friend? Eren also specifically said that he wasn’t sure if his friends would survive. In his head, Eren did the best he could given his circumstances. He tried to save his friends and Mikasa, but that’s all he could do. Was try. Why would he choose the path that certainly kills them but saves the people on the island? That literally makes no sense at all. Eren knows that Paradise is just the place he happened to be born. He doesn’t carry that false pride like Floch does. Did you miss the point of the conversation with Reiner before Eren transformed and ate Willy? He says “Reiner, I’m the same as you”. Acknowledging that he knows it’s all bullshlt. No one inside the walls are any different than people outside the walls. They’re all just people. So having Eren kill his loved ones in order to save Paradise literally goes against the entire point of the story and the character of Eren.

I think people kinda expected a fairytale happy ending, I don't even know why. Aot is a story about war, despair, hate and humans. That's how the world works, no matter how hard you'll try to fight for something it will never be guaranteed you will succeed at it. It doesn't matter how hard you've fought, how many sacrifices you did. Your whole life could get destroyed in a single day, no matter how many people will fight for peace. Humans will never achieve it, that's the tragic story of life. A story of death, despair, injustice and cruelty. The cycle will always repeat, that's what human race is fated to live.

Isayama did Eren and Mikasa dirty. And killing off Eren and Mikasa being completely alone after everything they suffered is indeed unforgivable. Good things comes after bad things and the cycle continues. But Eren and Mikasa's life started through tragedy and ended with it. Worst part is that they never ever said love you to each other to acknowledge their love. As a fan of Eremika, I love Isayama but also hate him for this. @@earheard Are you sane ? Do you like making theories on a lady's character???man she truly loved eren and eren did vice versa fans gave 10 years of their life to this anime and they should've given answer of their questions their were literally other things to be remain open ended . You like when people comment jean bread Mikasa everyday????I don't have any problem with the ending it's perfect problem is Mikasa is dead as well as eren and fans want to know whether they reunited or not man Mikasa loved eren and waited to meet him everyday it's depressing that there is no answer that they ever reunited

@@earheard let me ask you a question is Mikasa a right character on which people make up possible solutions??????she really suffered a lot every moment she waited to meet eren And what ishayama did with her??? Created a controversial panel with some kid and a man . Is Mikasa like this ??? That she'll marry somebody else when eren asked her to move on (it's his love that he didn't wanted her to hold her back on himself) And when Mikasa rejected his request (it's her love that she didn't want someone else to enter in her life except eren ) Then why did ishiyama created such panel

@@Orewa_Ani4683 Mikasa was buried next to Eren which symbolizes that she still loved him even after his death. And probably did not get with another guy. Amd they'll probably meet again in Paths.

I really don't get why so many people didn't like the ending making him do such a humiliating thing. I mean it is his work, his manga and his story so he knows better than us the characters motivations and reasoning behand their every emotion and action so he knew better than us what is the most suitable ending and at the same time the most logical. So why because of some asholes make him do such thing? And if he decided to do it that way no prob. When i read it because i couldn't wait for the anime i burst into tears. For me it was the perfect ending and i am totally satisfied ❤❤

I mean the final chapters are AWFUL, at least we can rewatch the best arcs of the anime and laugh when they anímate scenes like “I don’t want that” or Reiner’s creepy moment

>I don't know why people don't like the ending Maybe because literally every single character was completely ruined? Name any character who were still alive in the ending and I literally tell you how they were ruined. HELL, even most death characters were ruined, like Grisha and Owl. EVEN FUCKING ERWIN >I mean it is his work, his manga and his story so he knows better than us the characters motivations and reasoning behand their every emotion and action so he knew better than us what is the most suitable ending and at the same time the most logical He literally admitted to changing the ending in the last minute which is very noticeable in the final 7 chapters lmao >So why because of some asholes make him do such thing? And if he decided to do it that way no prob Literally, no one asked him to do this. He knows he fucked it up, and apologizes for it. Also, I know that double-digit IQ shippers (like you) are ok with the ending because you didn't understand anything about the writing, but there are people who actually cared besides romantic fucking bullshit. Of course, it was the perfect ending for you, because you shippers don't care about anything. Like parasites, you infect and completely gut and ruin every single fucking fandom until they start catering to your mental problems.
