The development of Turkiye’s high-speed railway network supported by roughly half a billion dollars in financing from the Islamic Development Bank represents an ambitious modernization collaboration between IsDB and Turkiye, one of its founding member countries.
The first phase saw the construction of the Ankara-Konya line with six high speed train sets, followed by the creation of the Istanbul - Ankara line along with the delivery of 10 high speed trains, capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 kilometers an hour.
These environment-friendly super-fast trains “also” feed on renewable energy resources allowing passenger traffic to switch from congested roads to a more efficient and environment-friendly railway infrastructure that reduces emission of air pollutants.
This is only part of a long-lasting cooperation between IsDB and Turkiye since 1986.
