Ishant is probably correct, Tennis ball cricket promote arm speed, and specific cricketing environment also promote fast bowling. In 10 overs cricket, bowling fast, accurate and unplayable balls is a mater of pride, it is thrilling, wild and extremely enjoyable. Then history of fast bowling also play important role in modelling this raw talent into fire spitting dragons. Yeah that is the feeling we have, it doesn't matter if i bowled 20 wides or was hit for boundaries, bowling fast is the aim, after that accuracy and line comes with time. If one is bowling fast, he will keep getting opportunities even if he is being smashed but if one starts to bowl slow, the only thing he can do is to transition into batting. Plus bowling slower is considered cowardly and treacherous 😅

What Ishant said about tennis ball is what I've actually heard Pakistani bowlers say as well. I never realized that India didn't have a massive culture of taped tennis ball cricket (please correct me if I'm wrong) but in Pakistan it's in every street and the focus is on the arm's momentum. It also helps that Pakistan has a rich legacy of ridiculously good fast bowlers, similar to how India has a conveyor belt of insanely good batsmen that helps inspire the next generation.

Haris Rauf was a tape bowl fast bowler at city level(city level: local tape ball leagues between cities) and he wasn't playing hard ball professionally till 2017-18. But he attends a trial of Lahore Qalanders and coaches found him so quick. After that he picked up from there and he practiced on hard ball and become a great fast bowler. Tape ball is a good point. And we have revolution in tape ball. There are a lot of players practicing and doing a of hard work just to participate in tape ball leagues around the country. Because they can earn good amount of money in those leagues rather then playing first class cricket.

Once played with an Indian-Pakistani group in Germany. We were all amateurs of course - students / restaurant workers / researchers. True to prevalent stereotypes, the Indians had a lot of medium pacers and the Pakistanis had at least 2-3 genuine quickies. Their captain was fielding near a goalpost (match was in a football ground) - and to pass the time between overs he started doing one-arm pull-ups on the goalpost bar. Just to give you an idea, one-arm pull-ups (OAPs) require a crazy amount of strength. I've come across many cases of people who can do 12-15 normal pull-ups, still can't do a single OAP.

This is because of tape ball. They have to put more force on the ball to make swing and fast. So their arm speed is stronger and that whip allows them to easily generate pace on the leather ball. This is why Pakistan generally does well in conditions where ball swings like in England. But as a result their batting gets affected. Tape ball doesn't bounce as high as the leather ball, so that's why Pakistani batsmen tend to struggle with bouncy wickets like in Australia and South Africa, and as a result, their performance in tests there is for all to see.
