I had flakes too the first time I did it but when I put a leave in with it and sealed it with Shea butter instead of an oil I had zero issues. I highly recommend it. Great video❤️

Lava I used Cantu Leave-in, if you can’t find Cantu leave-in cause it’s sold old(which is usually is near me) Cantu curling cream works well too. And I would highly recommend you seal it with Shea butter. It makes it a huge difference when I used it and it extremely moisturizing. You just gotta make sure you rub it in your hands to make it melt enough first 😂

I used the conditioner for the Black castor oil line in shea moisture ...not the leave in the rinse conditioner 😅cause I didn't noticed beforehand but regardless no flakes and it lasted me a week. (If you don't mind the crunch)

Nicknatters I would say she put the leave in first the Shea butter second last the gel because the whole point of the leave in and shea butter is to provide moisture to the hair to prep it for the gel. Hope this helped you 💕

I’ve been using the old wetline gel for about a year. Let me tell you it’s my holy grail alongside the African Pride leave-in cream! BUT I recently tried the new one and I did not like it at all! I had like 5 day hair on the first day! So, if you also really like the old wetline I suggest stocking up because they only had 2 left at my local Walmart. #beautegang❤️

The old wetline smells kind of like a bubble bath to me! Great video once again. Your hair looks so good! I’ve only ever used the old wetline with the Miche Beauty Lavish leave-in when I tried to do a sleek ponytail and though it didn’t keep the hair laid, it didn’t flake up on me either. Wetline Extreme is my jam. The best thing I've learned it that you have to use it with a leave-in or a moisturizer. I seal with oil after it's dried about 75% to 80%.

Turned out 💣 but flaking is not what the people asked for! Maybe breaking the cast with a little oil to combat the flaking? I would also try a Leave-in (maybe water based spray) before applying the gel so it won't dry your hair out so much?

I tried the new gel on my last wash day. It was my first time ever doing a wash and go on my hair since my big chop almost 2 years ago (May 2018). I used it with the Texture ID styling creme. I didn't notice any flakiness for the first 3 to 4 days, but my hair did feel a little crunchy with the firm cast of the gel since it is a strong hold gel. I wore the wash and go for about 3 or 4 days and then a puff for another 4 or 5 days and my curls were still super defined on the last day. I started noticing flaking about 2 days before I decided to wash the gel out. I'd rate this gel a 7.5/10. It's not the best thing in the world, but it is good gel and it's only like $3.

I just discovered the Wetline gel and it does cause flaking independently (just leave-in conditioner and gel), but try coating the hair with Shea Moisture curl enhancing pudding first. After coating the section with the curl enhancing pudding, apply the gel and repeat that step with each section. I'm telling you, that the curls will be REALLY defined and the gel will only enhance the curls more....

Maybe it’s me but I can tell the new gel def looks better. The old side looks shorter and like the shrinkage was more noticeable. Your hair is absolutely beautiful either side. But what threw me off the gel was the crunch. I am still an old school Let’s Jam girl and it works better than other gel and keeps my curls soft but held. Maybe one day you can do a video with that! The only reason that there was flaking is because you shouldn't have used the gel by itself, this is one of my favorite gels and you have to use some form of leave in and a cream before adding the gel and it will give you way better results.

I'd love to try it but I'm so afraid. Sodium hydroxide (main ingredient in relaxers) is pretty potent in this product. I feel real hypocritical using it but swearing off relaxers. Your hair looks bomb though!

The new gel pairs great with the blueberry curls hair milk. Moisture and shine. I wouldn’t suggest putting it on without a milk or leave in.

I saw something today and because you reviewed it their product and recommended it, I thought you might want to know. Pantene’s “Gold Series” line is more expensive then any other line on their brand. After ignoring our hair needs for DECADES, they make a line that’s supposed to cater to our needs, and then they jack up the price? None of their other product lines cost as much as that “Gold Series”. As a consumer yourself and a black woman who grew up with very limited product choices (well depending on your age), what do you think about this? Ladies, what do you think about Pantene’s actions? I mean, I’m not butt-hurt, I don’t buy Pantene anyway, they never cared our hair, so why would give them my coin? IJS and DIY. But I need them to know that I SEEEEEE them.

Ellenmarie 😊 I’d like to see that discussed. As women our consumer goods are consistently priced higher than mens. As minorities, our consumer goods are consistently more expensive than that of majority demographic. The commercial products that cater to women with type 3 textured hair and above, are often more expensive than that of what are politely referred to as “General” products. The “General Shampoo” that turns my hair into dreadlocks; It’s roughly 35% of the price, for 70% the quantity. That “General” or “All purpose shampoo”, like one of the many Pantiene has been making for decades. It’s meant to strip the oils from the majority demographics hair. Which is why even when I had a relaxer, and my hair had different needs, I couldn’t use it. Even the lotion in the ethnic isle is pricier than the Aveeno. Or for example, a new “Special Aveeno”. And I say all of this with ABSOLUTELY no malice whatsoever. It’s simply meant as an observation and a desire to evoke discussion. I’m very ready to listen to ANYONE’S thoughts and opinions. To be honest, I’m not sure if all of this is simply a clever marketing tool that companies have managed to get away with, but, it IS a practice that WE NEED to be aware of!! If WE stop supporting these companies.......and START support the smaller companies like, natural all, miche, melanin hair care, curlmix and other small business instead.

TWIST WETLINE METHOD: (no FLAKES) Spray a little water on your hair so the hair is damp, apply your hair cream but dime size, make sure the hair cream is melted a bit, then apply the gel. Don't apply too much gel so the hair can dry instantly (over night dry and holds as if it was a 3 day twist). When twisting out, Apply a little bit of the gel to the end of the twist, massage it, then untwist. Wash & GO: Same process (without twisting)

I've been using the old WetLine for over a year and it's my holy grail gel - I won't use any other. I ALWAYS use a leave-in followed by Cantu Coconut Curling Cream and then gel. I NEVER had a problem with the old gel no matter how much I put in. When I tried the new gel I had the same experience as Halfrican Beaute - same look, beautiful elongated curls, and FLAKES FLAKES FLAKES on day TWO. Argh!!! I really hate that they changed the formula. My wash-and-gos normally last a full 7 days without great curl definition throughout the week and NO flakes. So I went on an OLD WetLine binge and bought 15 tubs (yes, 15 TUBS) of the old gel just so I won't have to be bothered with finding a replacement. Good luck to anyone trying this new formula...

Hey Isi, loooove you and your videos! If it's not Isi approved I'm probably not trying it lol but in the future, I would love to see a timestamp in regards to how long it takes to do your wash day for example. Only out of curiosity or even a timestamp when you're styling your hair so we can have a sort of approximation when we do our hair :)
