Can my MPCNC mill Aluminum?
The Answer is yes!
The first try to mill aluminum was a success. I milled a Touch Plate for the Mostly Printed CNC (MPCNC). With this Touch Plate and ESTLCAM it's now a very easy task to find the zero point. Even if the work piece is clamped on slightly angled. This thing increases the convenience of the MPCNC extremely.

The "probing" is brilliant! Used to do the same on big industrial cnc (as well as really expensive probes - which i of course broke once..i learnt to always check you are on 0.01x not 100x on the z axis movement when probing by hand lol!)

Glad you're getting on well with your CNC. I just bought a Chinese 3018, carving out Christmas decorations for friends. Not too bad a piece of kit, slightly underpowered, but I'm learning the limits & trying to keep noise levels down. You keep up the good work with yours. Your EstCam app looks very comprehensive, is it machine specific or expensive? I love the touch plate operation on 3 sides. Never seen that before, nor touching 4 sides of your workpiece. Brilliant way to sort the XY home & squaring the cut to workpiece Stay safe Sir

Random question, but how much would a billet of aluminum like that cost?

That's pretty awesome. What spindle are you using? It appears to cut aluminum as well as any MPCNC I've seen.

Very nice project! I'm starting my MPCNC build too! Which 3D printer have you used to print all the parts?

Excellent thank you... I don't know why it took KZbin so long to offer it to me, as most of the videos I watch are CNC related. :o(

Can you share the STL file on the connector holder? I also use those in Amateur Radio and have not seen that one. 4 pins for future expansion?

What board are you using to be able to use estlcam to operate the whole thing buddy as I just got a rambo 1.4 and it won't operate mine, I have to use estlcam to create the gcode then repreteir host to operate the mpcnc? Got job tho buddy well done

Not sure who can answer this question for me, why does Estlcam not recognizing my SKR board? I will like to use the feature described in this video but Estlcam does nor recognize my board. Is there a set of Gcodes that one can use to achieve the angle correction?

Kinda curious ( from one *_TYPE J_*_ Plug_ user to another ), where did you source your Metal for the Touch plate from? 🤔

why did you cut out the piece by hand instead of using the CNC to finish cutting the piece of the final depth? I'm assuming it's for work holding, so you can clamp the rest of the aluminum down outside of the part your cutting. If that's the case, you might look into the blue tape and super glue method.

Do you have an STL for that zeroing device, or some basic measurments so I could design my own?

It's all pretty arbitrary. The critical dimensions are that every face is square with each other. Other than that, thickness and size is really a matter of preference.

Why are you only doing sloting operations? If you rotated the part 180 degrees you would be able to use HSM techniques and save on wear and time.
