As-salamu alaykum akhis I hope this finds you both upon khair. That somali thing you touched on at the end is a deep topic but I think it's quite clear as well. Skin colour range and different features humans have has always been a thing necessarily as it's such a clear difference between us all but ak the terms 'Black' and 'white' to group hugely different cultures, histories, lineages etc into one group is a very new and powerful phenomenon. The Anglicans are different to the slavics but their all white as everyone would say and when they are referred to as such they have to take ALL the baggage that that term comes with. Remember that point bro because it's important as these two terms 'black' and 'white' are such heavily loaded terms that affect everyday life because to a random passer by your a 'black guy' lol ic3 male bro u know hahaha which me a somali and u a west African both are and we both know that's a heavy load for a young male in London or 80% of the world to carry on their back especially growing up in areas with disparate differences between class and economic leverage that communities like us and a few others don't have. However the main crux of the issue akhi is the reason why Somalis don't tend to lean towards identifying themselves as black or African is because and you man got to be truthful here is the fact that black culture and those words specifically in the media and all over the world have been driven and voiced by kaaffirs. And me and u both know that term rightfuly or wrongis revolved around provocative Islamically soul destroying MUSIC. topics that has wrecked the society's of any people that have taken that term and ran with it. Akhi me nd u man both know Jamaican culture and African American culture are prime examples of who the media have given the mic to holding this term 'black culture' and look at them man come on, From an Islamic perspective my g which is the only perspective wa lillahil hamd. Somalis don't want to associate with this as alhamdulilah we've been Muslim from early. Allah with his knowledge being infinite has allowed Islam to reach our region while our prophet saw was alive and we have held quite firm to the message which can be seen within our people today and all praise is due to Allah. This is why We in general would rather refer to ourselves as somali rather than black or African (even though we are geographically and skin colour wise but it's deeper than that as I've tried to explain) as alhamdulilah the term somali is synonymous with Muslim and insha'allah that word won't be tainted as some of worst kuffarr in Europe came with the terms "black" or "African" so I think we shouldn't even use them ourselves. Somali or Yoruba Muslim for example are terms that everyone can get the same picture rather than a picture drawn by some of the worst of creation. I hope u understand and if u need further clarification reply to the comment

Just to point out as well this comment was not to make one individual higher than another in any way but to shed light on a concept that you said your are very baffled on

This is the first time I've heard that Somalis don't consider themselves African???. All the Somalis I know consider themselves African especially calling themselves East Africans. That's baffling, maybe calling themselves Black I can understand because most Somalis here are first generations because back in Somalia nobody calls themselves Black its more about Clans. But honestly from my experience most Somalis call themselves Black and African and they know how society see them.

Zubair Hassan I know there a lot of Somalis who identify as Arab and not African.

Because they are, but those who identify as Arab are not the majority. In Somalia we have a lot of 'Somalis' who are mixed with Yemenis so if you ask them they will say we are Somali and Arabs. But the majority of Somalis identify as East (or Horn) Africans.

roadside2islam a Somalian told me that Somalia is an Arab country. The proof he used was that Somalia is in the Arab league. So why are Somalia and Sudan in the Arab league?

Abu Bilaal this problem is very deep ahki Somali ppl will call themselves Arab which in fact enslaved thousands of East African countries rather than call themselves Black! This is major issue. Hopefully it will be touch on more in the future by these brothers

I, Zahenath Paaeah the CHRISTIAN worshipper of ALLAH, for Our ALLAH is the one ALLAH (Quran 2:163) I, have looked at Yall videos back to 09 and found Only 2 about the QURAN that were recites only for it is Written: no person to whom ALLAH, had given the Scripture, Wisdom and Prophethood would ever say to people Be my, servant and not ALLAH's (Quran 3:79) so when Yall speak Yall speak of Yall Own Understadning!!!!
