Bit of a bias comparison, especially considering John has had 16 title fights while Islam has had 4….. two of them being volk, one he arguably lost and another which volk was dumb an took it on super short notice. I definitely think Islam can become the pfp number 1 but saying that now we are getting a little ahead of ourselves.

Couldn't agree more!! That's my most looked forward to fight in the UFC right now. If Islam beats Arman I would rank him as the GOAT at LW. Arman has a great skill set to compete with Islam, but I do favor Islam to win that one. His striking is just too good for Arman IMO

Rampage Jackson is like 9 years older , so is DC n DC is smaller, Lyoto is like 8 or 9 years older, Shogun 9 years older. When JDS and Cain fought they were in same age range. Khabib 3 title defense were against 3 guys in his age group Dustin Justin and Connor were all born like 88 89 so we saw Khabib destroy those guys in their absolute prime.

even assuming jon is still active right now and we judge solely from their last 5 fight, islam outbox arguably the best boxer in ufc, submitted the best submission artist of all time, win a decision against p4p number 1 and ko'd that same guy easily after having a better gameplan meanwhile Jon's last 5 is him submitting a guy who got out wrestled by a crippled ngannou, barely won against reyes if even, fail to finish Anthony smith, barely win against thiago santos there is absolutely no way you could argue that the jon from 2019-2024 is more skilled than current islam, besides "if both were locked in a room, jon would be the one to come out alive", which, rather than supporting Jon's case for being p4p number 1, just shows how low your comprehensive ability is

I think that’s a fair point. In most other circumstances you’ll see the double champ be the P4P number 1. What really goes against Jon is his inactivity though. Since his last fight at 205, Islam has had 8 fights. If Jon had been continuing to defend his 205 belt and then move up to heavyweight Jon would likely still be P4P number 1. Taking those 3 years off really impacts how you rank him imo

@@LoxMMA I just think his most recent wins are better than Islam’s. I say Islam is probs #2, maybe #3 if you think Leon’s wins are better. I just feel like while Islam has beaten some solid competition, there are some asterisks to his recent streak. A controversial win against Volk the first time, and the second time he fought a worse version who fought on short notice. Also his win streak has several short notice fights too, which obviously favors him. (Not saying the results would’ve been different per se, but it still makes it easier for him) Pereira on the other hand has beaten multiple champs across two weight classes. I just think his wins have more value to them than Islam’s. Edit: forgot to mention because Islam glazers love to say how he beat the P4P #1 but also forget to mention that is also a man half his size from a lighter weight class, who, again, debatably won the first time, or at the very least, gave Islam the worst looking win he’s ever had.
