Islam is one of the goats now. A 15 fight winning streak/5 title fight wins in the most difficult weight class as well. I hope he keeps breaking records. People seem to not understand that both Islam posses better wrestling/grappling skills than their entire team, which was amongst the reasons Merab took over in the later rounds due to his sweps, trips, hooks and judo techniques, which again is what Islam and Khabib mastered unlike the others and they lack a certain high pace as well.

I disagree. The only reason merab took over round 4 and 5 is his unreal cardio. He was getting outskilled clearly in the first few rounds. It's not a wrestling skill issue or a talent one, it's just natural physical gifts

@grump9283 its crazy right mr grump? He has weak hands, weak wrestling (only spams takedowns, does no ground control). All he has was PACE! He showed us all that pace could be king!

@@grump9283agreed to those untrained eyes merab seemed to out wrestle umar. But umar wrestling technique is levels ahead of merab. To those who wrestle i myself do freestyle so i could see how umar had multiple defense techniques n his attacks on merab was high skill lvl. Merab literally all he does was double leg n single leg all night. Merab was cardio king n strong chin but even in the lost umar was wayy more skilled. His strikes n wrestling. I felt umar either need more muscle mass for ko or he shld start grappling early when his fresh

I think makhachev is kryptonite for a lot of top guys at 170 and he would walk through most of them. But some of the guys further back in the rankings might give him problems. I think colby could give him problems. I'd like like to see his first title defend a 170 title against buckley next year

it really is crazy to think that the ufc does nothing to try and stop these ridiculously dangerous weight cuts. they know full well what’s happening and just don’t care. they need to make everyone go up one weight class and find out what they weigh just walking around and say you can’t be under a certain weight. ufc watches fighters get to near dead and then get on the scale. there has to be a better way.

Respect to BJ Penn but you’re right coach. Islam is phenomenal but Khabib was just a little different. Maybe because we never saw any damage on Khabib and he just punished his opponents on the ground more. Islam is definitely more fun to see because he’s unreal in striking just as much as on the ground. And he didn’t just go for the single leg, but he used judo trips and sweeps it’s just beautiful. Yes, I can’t say he’s more dominant than Khabib was, but Islam is just the perfect MMA fighter at this point. We’ve seen well rounded fighters before including Zabid, but Islam is more complete with the finish and type of fighters he beat.

Re watch the fight umar started getting tired in the 4th not the first. it was a robbery umar won!!! Umar clearly won the first 3 rounds, he won the striking, landed the bigger shots, hurt merab badly in the 1st round and also hurt him again in the 3rd with a power jab. In those 3 rounds umar also stopped all of merabs takedown and even scored 2 of his own takedown on merab with control time. There is no way you can give any of the first 3 to merab. In the khabib told umar to wrestle in the 3rd maybe because he wanted umar to keep merab in the defensive, ultimately umar didn't try to wrestle in that round. The 4th was pretty clearly a merab round (with takedown but zero damage) umar was tired, but, but umar still managed to rock merab with a 2 punch combination, and if they gaved o'malley the 5th round (a round merab dominated him) by just landing 1 kick that hurt merab than you can also make an argument you can give the 4th round to umar also based on damage. The 5th round is also a close round, merab scored many takedowns with zero control but umar landed more punches on the stats it was (umar 18 strikes and merab 13) so the 5th could also go either way.

not really true. khabib was finishing people especially at the end. and if he didn’t stand and jab with Iaquinta i bet he would of got him too but clearly wanted to show off his stand up. but when he really tried he finished conor, finished dustin pretty easily and then finished justin pretty easily and before that he nearly broke micheal johnson’s arm. and personally i feel like khabib retiring was one of the biggest tragedies in mma. he would still be champ he was smoking everyone and in his prime. who was going to beat him at 155? olivera? lol even at 170 khabib would bully guys. but i get his dad passed and he wanted more family time. and islam was up next. but khabib was submitting anyone if he wanted. so i disagree that islam is better at submitting people. i honestly think its a tie. islam is amazing, he’s my favorite active fighter right now but they asked islam who the best to ever do it was and even he said khabib. because he knows. khabib a different animal. islam is also a different animal. them training together was the best thing that ever happened for em. they pushed and learned from each other.

Facts. People seem to not understand that Khabib and Islam have a completely different fighting styles. Khabib enjoyed hurting his opponents and break their will in an aggressive way unlike Islam being more defensive overall and aggressive when showing them mercy by finishing them as quickly as possible when he gets the chance. Think Khabib would have become the champ at 170, especially with ease if he had fought Edwards, but it is what it is now.

Josh Thompson said islam is better at submitting people but khabib just relentless with his pressure and ground and pounds, islam looking for and opening to finish while khabib let his opponent give up, conclusion: khabib more scary, islam more skilled.. .. Islam is better at MMA but khabib is better fighter
@alcottdevalte7440
@alcottdevalte7440 11 күн бұрын
@@hadiwibowohadi1496 I disagree. Josh Thompson talks a lot of nonsense. Khabib is the only one from his entire team who has several submission wins from his bottom guard position. Not to mention that Khabib makes the gameplans for everyone and not the other way around. Khabib gets the job done at level 1 and 2 while the others go to level 3, 4 and 5 to get the job done. Two fights where Khabib fought a lot like Islam was Abel Trijulo and Al Iaquinta where Khabib got 21 takedowns by showing all kinds of skills against Abel and throwing all kinds of kicks and landing several hundred strikes against Iaquinta but he wasn't applauded for these performances. When it comes to Khabib's full guard/half guard positions, ground control and ability to use the fence, it's second to none...

You can’t use Islams first fight against volk as proof that his stamina is bad, In Australia you have a 24hr rehydration window compared to 36hrs, Hence less time to rehydrate. Islam is way better than khabeeb. His striking is levels above and he’s more technical, striking is cleaner and khabeeb is not going to be able to maul Islam as he is a master on the ground himself. The lightweights now are more rounded and better than even 8/9 years ago, Dustin improved his takedown defence massively
