I think Khabib was a lot better than Islam and not in terms of talent. Khabib was exceptional in one thing and one thing alone that was taking people down and making sure they suffered once they are there. I agree Islam is a more complete fighter but Khabib is still the better fighter for me specially seeing how he looked after his fights. I don't think I remember him ever having even a substantial bruse like ever.

Everybody says “Khabib was so dominant” Khabib was the first rodeo for everybody who fought him. They’d never felt an elite Dagestani and specifically from team Abdulmanap. Everybody got to practice for Islam. Islam had harder fights because his opponents knew what to prepare for, had tape to watch and Islam stands and trades more than Khabib did. That being said, Islam is on the precipice of most title defenses ever for a Lightweight Champion. That obviously makes his achievements greater than Khabib.

Khabib was more dominant, but Islam's more exciting to watch. That's not to say Khabib didn't have some fun fights too. Islam will break the LW title defense record, and has expressed interest in moving up for bigger challenges. Khabib on the other hand, struggled to make LW, likely missed weight in his last fight, and didn't have the courage to step up to fight WWs which was a more grappling heavy division.

Khabib is pretty squarely in the GOAT discussions and Islam appears to still be absent from that. If he beats Arman convincingly perhaps he enters that discussion. If he then takes a second belt he's seriously in that conversation. That being said, Khabib is looked at as almost a force of narure itself who simply imposes his will on his opponents, which within his absolute dominance isn't too much of stretch to make suxh a remark. No one is near replicating that, for whatever the reessons one might argue. He was still not even at his absolute peak when he laid the gloves down. Definitely he'll always stand with that uniquely incredible legacy wherever one wants to place him in GOAT discussions. I dont see anyone ever duplicating that.

I don’t even understand how the oliveira and khabib comparison makes sense. Charles got whooped for most of those fights against Gaethje and Poirier and found a way to win. Against Poirier he did so by grabbing Poirier’s gloves so he couldn’t defend himself which is not allowed. Khabib dominated both of those fights. Charles Oliveira is great and one of my favourite fighters but as a fighter he’s not better than khabib.
