With all due respect to you Imam, you don't know what a depressed person goes through... Even with medication, often he/she doesn't even have the strength to get out of bed in the morning but still be happy... If you have not dealt with major depression this theme, depression will remain only a theme at the level of faith and nothing more. Until you have been really severely depressed even for one day, you do not understand and cannot express opinions about this devastating disease. And I say this with great respect.

I ask Allah to relieve all that ails you and raise your rank by this tribulation. The point was “being invested in restoring your emotional health” and that the deen teaches this. How that’s done? The deen offers principles, and seeking medical treatment is one of those that would certainly be warranted for people with major depression.
