Oh,, the winter, summer, all season were enjoyable, there were no smart phones, so there was a lot to talk bout with cousins, it was beautiful back then. Memoirs of our generation.

When I was 4 or 5 I used to drive around with my aunt who used to baby sit me and my older brother because our mother was very busy. I remember seeing empty roads, lots of trees and bushes, totally deserted lands, area in and around F9 park used to be desolate. Back then, after Maghreb you wouldn't wanna travel or drive outside. Old PTV Adhans and lighting bright burning gas lamps during power cuts. I remember margalla hills being much greener and there were very few people. Between residential areas was always huge swaths of empty lands, wild animals and highway robbers. This was before the cell phones and internet and cameras. It was a different world back then. Missing children were thought to have been taken away by wolves and leopards which too were very real back in those days but so we're the kidnappers. Islamabad has always been a hub for kidnappers of Pakistan. It felt like everything and everyone was out to get you after Maghreb or so was the fear instilled me in as a child back then. Few Old "tube wells" were enough to meet the clean water needs of Islamabad. Islamabad roads were thought of being wide enough to land airplanes. Everything was fresh and smelled fresh. Cleaner and greener.

I grew up in Islamabad, the kidnapping aspect seems very exaggerated though, so does the fear of going out after dark. It was sparsely populated, yes, very green and wooded between the sectors, few cars on the road. The water supply for Islamabad came from Simli dam, i dont think a few tube wells would have sufficed to provide the entire city.
