Won't ever be the same without these character full long established icons. Left a lump in the throat watching the last one go a few hours back. Thanks for sharing. Great camera work, rain shots are great. Many just take photo and video in fine weather, but I think wet can add dimension.

Only travelled on the line once, in 1980, when the Standard trains were still running. They were formed into 3 and 4 car units. The summer season seemed to be a lot busier in these days. There was also an extra shuttle service between Esplanade and Pier Head, using the track and platforms which are now disused.

Great video and even better news is that No 6 will be returning to London. Used to travel on this warrior in the 1970s when running on the Bakerloo line as was the other great survivor no 8. Hope that this finds a good retirement too

It'll be good to see the passing loop at Brading (6:00) reinstated, although sad that the '38 Stock won't be around to use it. They've got problems over there this week unfortunately, with the line closed until next Monday (14.12.20), due to 008 failing last Friday. I hope they get a unit running again in time to finish off before the scheduled closure in the New Year. Great video btw!!

Thank you for watching, it will be grate to see more then two trains operating on the line I have seen there ahs been loads of problems as of today 17/12/2020 set 007 is out and about and set 006 has been repaired to be a stand in if set 007 fails again. -Kyle

@@kyle123481 Thanks Kyle. I think also that filming in the cold, wet rainy weather also added to the atmosphere and the ambiance. There are plenty of other videos on KZbin depicting the line on a fine, sunny day, your footage in the wind and the rain makes this one stand out!! 😁

I'm amazed when I first know Island Line is running with 38ts. Thus, 2014 summer is my first visit and I revisited in DEC 2019 as tribute to these pre-war tube train. Really enjoy bouncing with it along the suburban. Sure will miss them. Greetings from Hong Kong~ we also have plenty of UK made train running on the MTR since 1979, still reliable but will retire soon.

When are the new trains planning to come online? I assume if I can make it to the IoW next summer, the old Tube stock will be gone by then.

Thank you for watching. the Island line closes on the 4th January for the engineering work to happen for the new trains, I believe the line will be opening for March/April time. -Kyle

@@kyle123481 That was the original plan, but it now looks like the re-opening will be put back until about August or September. They've had problems with the new stock apparently, interference between the 3rd rail feed (which has been upgraded) and the signalling. So at the time of writing, 3 out of the 5 "new" 484's are still at Eastleigh on the mainland. The two 483's (1938 Stock) due to remain on the island have now been shifted to their respective new homes, 004 to Holliers Park as a cafe (the Brading plan fell through) and 007 to the Steam Railway. 006 and 008 are due to be shifted back to London, one definitely to the Epping - Ongar railway, the other maybe held in reserve for a while at the LT Museum. The scrapped ones, 002 and 009 have already long since departed.
