You can sell the gold poop... but only if your Sim is the one that picks it up. For some reason if you (the player) picks up the poop and place it in the inventory, instead of telling your Sim to pick it up, it is worth nothing. I can't remember how much it sells for, but it is definitely worth telling your Sim to pick it up!
