Kelly, I grew up on Lake Erie fishing Walleye. Just East of Toledo. Those fishing grounds are considered the Walleye capital of the world. Also Lake Erie perch. Lake Erie Walleye and Perch are some of my favorite tasting fish of all time. We've caught some monster Walleye drifting and casting 1-5 miles off shore. Nice to see that you enjoyed catching and eating these great tasting fish.

@@georgeappleby6868 We had a cottage on Parmen's Point Catawba Island/Cliffs and boats at Gem Beach Marina. There was no limit on Perch back then. Then changed to a limit of 50. Also had a boat at Turtle point. Straight out from shore about 1/2 mile and directly on top of mega schools of Walleye. 3-5 pounders the average and caught 10+ pounders very regularly. Needless to say we were in food comas often.

When the White Bass run in the rivers in East Texas, you can dangle a bare hook above the water and they will jump up and onto the hook. A white spinner bait will tear them up.

We love catching and eating walleye, we calm them pickerel up in Northern Ontario. Here in Canada, we dont have a minimum size for them, but we are only allowed 1 over 18 inches.

On my way to Lake Erie for Walleye next week. Ive eaten hundreds if not thousands of White Bass. They are not as tasty as Walleye but I enjoy them. The bigger ones have more of a blood line and you can trim that away to remove the bitter taste. But just pan fry them and enjoy! Just like with salt water fish don't take everyone's word on taste, try them and decide for yourself.

In Britian we have a close relative called a Zander also Pike-perch (Sander luciopercain), Walleye being (Sander vitreus), they aren't native to Britian being introduced from mainland Europe in 1878 and spred from ther, for a freshwater fish they have very nice white meat.

I just googled ..... Are white bass good eating..... It's white flaky meat that resembles walleye and you cook them the same way... they have excellent flavor it said.... It depends upon who caught the fish iced the fish cleaned the fish.. a good sportsman takes good care of their game meat... The sportsman prepares the fish properly and Cooks it when it's fresh or freezes it properly...
