Enjoyed the video, Stuart. The weather conditions sounded testing but those shots on the sand were beautifully ethereal and successful, I thought. Good luck and looking fwd to the next one 🙂

I liked the last shot, that centre Marram grass took my eye on a curve to the left, then follow the horizontal line left to right. The next episode looks good. All the best.

Great vlog demonstrating how much of a challenge it is without that all important light. That said you obviously maged well without it. Looking forward to the next installments.

Great to see you back Stuart (not that you've been away that long) and in such a stunning location. The D&B really helped bring out the beauty in those shots. Thanks for the upload and I'm already looking forward to part 2!

Love it Stuart! One of my most favourite places in the world, along side the Lake, of course. Must go back.....did you visit Beka Globe's gallery on the Golden Road. Stunning and much underrated photographer. Thanks for sharing, can't wait for Part 2.

Thanks Steve I think I might have been to that gallery on my previous visit however this time we pretty much concentrated the entire week into shooting one area so we didn’t get around too much (mainly due to the poor weather). Thanks for watching, part 2 is up tomorrow 👍

Loved that first shot Stuart. I'm heading up to Skye in March and was thinking about what if I have the sort of weather you had in the video. I came to the conclusion that much of Scotland is so beautiful that whatever the weather you can get good shots and with conditions like you had at least you potentially can shoot all day instead of just blue/Golden hours. harris & lewis is definitely on my Bucket list of locations.
@StuartMcGlennon
@StuartMcGlennon 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve they’re like anywhere else in that you still need to choose locations which fit the conditions best, though that task is a bit easier in locations like Skye and Harris. Time of year is key as well, I wouldn’t for instance shoot Harris or Skye in late spring/summer - low winter sun and changeable weather suits both best I think.

I do love that section of the beach there, but it definitely requires the time to find the compositions, I was far too rushed on my visit there! I do like that first image Stuart, it looks as though you made the most of it in challenging conditions! Sam.

I think the final images do really capture the expansiveness of that place and the enhancement of the detail texture is very successful. Can I also thank you for your newsletter that I received recently. It provided a good couple of hours of study and is really professionally produced. I look forward to the next one.

I'm curious to know whether you find the time and effort it takes to create video content like this worth it Stuart? I started doing YT videos over 5 years ago now, made about 5 and quickly realised the requirements and commitment to video on location along with trying to get the best landscape images was very challenging because the photography should always come first, and I found that trying to balance the two often left me feeling the photography may have suffered as a result. It's a genuine question, and I often wonder whenever I see other KZbin photographers whether they feel the benefits outweigh the cons. I guess there's the hope that it will bring added exposure, but it's a tough juggling act (at least in my experience).
@StuartMcGlennon
@StuartMcGlennon Жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, tricky one - I find making them a bit of a pain at times and certainly on occasion can compromises the stills, but I’d never class myself ever as a KZbin photographer. I’d long established myself before ever making videos in terms of building my gallery business and winning major awards so I wasn’t quite starting from scratch, and had quite a significant social media following away from this platform before I decided to start making them. I see them as a window into my wider business and in that sense yes ultimately they’ve been worth making as i sell more workshops in particular off the back of having the channel. Overall it certainly can be a compromise at times but as a whole I’d say it’s been worth it.

"I shouldn't complain" but I will 20 times in 15 minutes 🤣 Beautiful textures on the beach and a couple of decent images but the mid ground is too messy for me. That said I so want to be there :-)
@StuartMcGlennon
@StuartMcGlennon 3 жыл бұрын
🤣 Cheers for watching Andrew, i see your point though it’s quite tricky as if you move ahead of the grasses and frame past that mid ground you’re left with very little to shoot as it’s the same view right along that stretch. Was happy with the balance in the first one mainly
