Hi John, yes we got into the wheel (and most attractions free) because we are members of the National Trust and English Heritage. Both of those allow members of Manx Heritage free entry in exchange in the UK. The wheel drives the connecting rod back and forth along that arched track and at the end is a pump that draws water from the mine. I would have loved to see it in action.

The "derelict house" on Laxey prom used to be a good cafe and shop in the good old days of mass tourism (which was just about still going when I was little). I was brought up in Laxey (it means "Salmon River" in Norse) before it became more of a dormitory village for Douglas, and when there were many more small shops and cafes, putting greens and the like. My Dad worked for the man who had the concessions at the Wheel and Glen Gardens - the shop etc at the Wheel burned down years ago, and all the swings, boating lake etc in the Gardens have long gone. I am now in Panama - a very, very different sort of place!

KZbin has been really strange for a while. I am supposed to be able to upload as ‘unlisted’ which means people shouldn’t see it until it’s ready for release. That has proved very unreliable of late. Now I have to upload them as private first as there is a bit of work to be done on them before they are ready to be seen. That messes with the release data. 🙄👍

@@LifeistooshortCK I've been firmly convinced for two or three years now. That's what social media sites do best, mess with the data. 🤔🤣. There are a couple of American contributers that I don't actually subscribe to as I consider a lot of the output irrelevant and the Vloggers have that kind of accent and tone that is quite annoying ( politically correct, not ) and nevertheless I'll get an immediate ping for new content which will then show on the homescreen. Two days later if I haven't viewed it it will pop up in notifications but obviously never in Subs. Conclusion: what you and I want is irrelevant, KZbin pushes what it likes and by whatever algorithms it pleases. I only have two social media accounts. KZbin and what my granddaughters used to call Bookface when they were little. I won't use all the others as I think they are mainly, what do they call it, clickbait ? 😬

The lady with the death hold on the hand rail should have kept both feet on the ground..😊 Do have a question...you mention on some videos how warm it is...Does the van have factory air conditioning, as here it is a must, no need for a heater? Stay safe from Arizona🌵🌞

I am not keen on heights but going up there was fine. The Grand Canyon is vast and we had a beautiful trip there years ago. Our van has the normal aircon that you would find in a car so it’s not really designed to run when parked as you need the engine running. We can normally control the inside temperature quite well by covering the external windows in reflective screens. Failing that we have the two fans which are remarkably effective in bed at night 👍

You say that the drone flyer was flying his drone in a “restricted area”? The Isle of Man Civil Aviation Authority is separate from the CAA, just as all Manx legislation differs from the U.K’s. The only restricted areas on the island for drone flying are within a 5 kilometre radius of Ronaldsway Airport, the Isle of Man prison (built within two of runways at Jurby airfield, these runways are also included), the temporary exclusion zones during the TT bike festivals which includes the whole of the course during race weeks and practice weeks and Andreas airfield at any time. Laxey foreshore however is no where near any ‘restricted areas’. If he allowed his aircraft to take off or land within 30 metres of any person, or fly it within 50 metres of any property or person, then he would be infringing the IOMCA’s CP4 which is entitled “Guidance for operators of small unmanned aircraft in the Isle of Man”. I’d be interested to know if he did in fact infringe these distancing guidelines?

That little robin is a youngster and feathering out :-). That meal wasn't inspiring for the cost.

@@LifeistooshortCK Watched it through. A very nice place you've visited. I recommend Kongsberg Silver Mines when you get to Norway. Kongsberg Sølvegruvene - The Kings Silver Mines. The tiny train goes 1.2km into the mountain (slightly uphill) and you can walk around inside the old workings. Fascinating place. Put it on your list.

Why did you break the vlog up just being in a difficult situation? We wonder what happens next??

Exactly for that reason, to keep you wondering 😉😁👍
