Thank you Alex. It looks like a fun little game. Nice mechanics.

Discarding cards as currency is a cool mechanic and I really like that decision in race for the galaxy. I feel like the cards in Race for the galaxy are easier to make quick decisions on whether they fit with your strategy or not given that they aren't as multi-use. However in Isle of Trains it appears that the cards can be used in a number of different ways so choosing what to keep/discard could be an engaging decision but also an AP inducing one. I would probably play this primarily solo, but right now I have a ton of games coming that might fill a similar time slot/size in my collection. I might pick this up later if I back a future Dranda games product.

Yep, it's a good game but you kind of have to let go of making optimal decisions.

Seems spot on with where I am on this one as well.

Thanks for this. I backed it because I like trains and train games, but I just cancelled my pledge now. No knock on the game, but I see now that this won't work for me and my group.

Hi Alex So if I understand you rate this game (3.5) the same rating as for example (they are so many more) Septima from MindClash games !!!? Is this logic for you ? Don't you honestly think that the scale (1 to 5) you've been using since so many months or years (knowing that you never use 1 or 2 rating as far as I remember) is completely not tailored to fit all the richness and subtilty of all those games ? Isn't it time to move to another scale ? maybe going from 1 to 20 (or else) would be much more fair with your quotation, with manufacturers, and with the way you can express a real and fine evaluation of a game ? Another example: in your last ranking 146 to 1 games, you put many 4.5 rated games less good than some 3.5 games ? I mean what is the logic of your evaluation? I don't understand. Anyway thanks for your work.

I prefer less ranking than more. A 20 point scale is way more than I need. I rate based on desire to play in general.

I like having a final rating score but it is hardly the be all and end all. It is a quick way to see how the game aligns with Alex's tastes but that's really it. I think Alex provides plenty of information throughout the review itself that allows a viewer to understand his evaluation. The Dice Tower doubles the amount of ranking scores in their reviews and you still get the same issue. There are good 7 out of 10s and bad 7 out of 10s but I won't know that unless I actually listen to the review.
