How would you explain the difference between cyclothymic and bipolar 2? I am diagnosed bipolar but no one ever told me which one specifically.
@nayrdrumr2 ай бұрын
I would consult your psychiatric doc for those answers. In short, my uneducated understanding is this: BP 1 is diagnosed on and experiences full on mania, BP 2 is hypomanic and experiences more depression, cyclothymia is both hypomanic and hypodepressed. These things take years to diagnose and figure out. Best of luck and again, ask your doc over me!

I am diagnosed bipolar type 1 with psychosis and we are still facing huge stigma in society. I am in the UK and have a consulatant psychiatrist and a community psychiatric nurse/mental health team assigned to me and we keep hearing people talk about "mental health" and how their mental health is suffering so bad yet they mean depression/anxiety not the real severe mental illnesses we suffer from. I would love to swap my psychotic episodes and the mania where i have wrecked my life a million times over just to have depression/anxiety. Even people who bang on about mental health never ever include people with bipolar psychosis, schizoaffective or schizophrenia as we face huge stigma and we are seen as "crazy".

Being in a "mood" you do Not decide to destroy your Life and the lives of others and or objects building around you. Bipolar can be extreamly destructive to yourself and everyone and everything around you, in an emotional and physical sense. If you are in a bad mood you might yell at someone. But Bipolar is as dangerous as a drunk driver, driving a car all day long. You might make it home safely, but odds are you or someone else or both or physical objects will be damaged before you get home.

Never heard anyone here in Denmark saying stuff like "the weather is bipolar" .. Think that might be a more critical view from someone who lives with bipolar, or more inclined to think that way duo to paranoia or something. Cus i can tell. Noone here says stuff like that "oh my lawnmover is bipolar" ... Never ever ever heard that term.. Infact.. In Denmark, its not very common to even talk about it, most people still recognize the illness as Manio-depressive. Im currently seeing someone who is Bipolar. She was very open about it at the beginning. I had little clue what i was going into. Oh damn. Lets just say that the rollercoaster has been quite a ride so far, and we´ve gone from "i love you more than ever and i never want you to leave" to "never want to talk to you again, fuck off" quite a few times already.. So yea, im here to learn.. Thank you so much for makeing this content.. @@PolarWarriors No, Thank you for doing these videos. They are very inspireing. And although there might not be a cure, its nice to hear and see, that there is alternatives, and ways of easing the pain not only for caretakers, loved ones, but also for the subjects going through this. I can barely relate or understand how it must feel like to not really be sure about what mood you wake up in, or how you are going to react to certain enviroments or people differently from day to day basis, depending on how your brainchemicals are combined. But just because someone is sick, does not mean that they are not entitled to feeling love. However that feels to someone, who sometimes rarely or barely even trust themselfs or anyone else. Noone should be outcasted or left alone due to an illness they did not choose. However, i am starting to understand why familymembers and loved ones are recommended to seek out therapy. Cus it can be quite hard being around someone who shifts mood, opinions, even points of view, words, promises, feelings.. from day to day, or week to week.. you think you know them, and then suddently its like talking to another person.. Not to mention the severe depression parts.. Oh daym, those are rough to watch..

Right I'm gonna say my bit.... I am a bit bipolar. I have experienced massive mania.... hospitalized twice in my life. Once at 18 years of age and once in April 2022 when I was 45. In the meantime I was perfectly fine and perfectly stable and had NO drugs whatsoever, prescription or otherwise... I got insomnia due to immense stress in October 2019 after which I have struggled to remain stable. My psychiatrist said "sounds a bit bipolar"... I had mania when I was 18..... never experienced depression in my life (praise God) until after the massive mania in October 2019 there was a massive crash which you may be familiar with... January and February 2020. Then COVID which didn't help especially as we weren't allowed to leave the house. I am in Italy and we were hit bad and had very very strict rules about leaving the house. I think it's because Italians are not very disciplined so the government thought it best to impose those rules. FAR FAR stricter rules than the UK for example. I do not know about USA: The closed environments with masks on were fully enforced (Like theatre) unlike in UK where basically you were free to do what you liked. You could not go to any kind of public place like a restaurant or theatre or whatever without a "green pass" which demonstrated you were vaccinated. This kind of lack of freedom would be unheard of in the UK. And maybe in US too. But actually in the end it helped tremendously with covid in Italy while in UK cases went up. Anyway had to live through all that with trying to get a medication to control mood swings and covid and isolation, children at home etc (with no proper resources from school, there is no culture of home schooling here). Came through that not quite sure how. But was not stable. Hospitalized again in April 2022 due to insomnia/mania but due to covid we were basically imprisoned... worst two weeks of my life. Fortunately I only remember really strong events like another patient slapping me around the face because I used her hairbrush and a muslim guy called mohammed asking for a F**k every hour. I do not know why the nurses did not intervene but maybe it's because I didn't complain. I'm guessing all the others were there because of drug abuse so the psychiatrists are very unsympathetic to all patients no matter what. The nurses also just were there to dispense medication, no sympathy. Being manic I was very paranoid as I had no idea what they were giving me. LIke i say I had lots of friends to visit but i have no recollection of any! The only real memory is a dog. Pet therapy. I don't even remember my amazing son who was only 16 getting around 2 if not 3 buses to bring me a flask of coffee as the coffee was so bad in the hospital. They would not let him in as he was under 18. That's it. Now I am doing so much better I'm on a drug that works for me. And psychotherapy and all the other things that they tell you to help with mental health. Etc. I strongly advise and encourage you to confront your childhood trauma and demons from the past. They are what landed me in hospital at 18. And have been buried all this time. So yes I'm a bit bipolar as in 1996 they never said bipolar they just locked me up in a psych ward and pumped me full of sedative drugs. But actually I had a ball.... that was fun, in the UK the nurses loved me as I wasn't a drug addict. And I actually didn't even understand why I was there! Especially as i was not a suicide risk. But whatever. I don't regret that experience, I actually enjoyed it, my first proper time away from home and the prison of my parents! I finally met some boys even! Anyway I think it isn't necessarily a lifelong condition. Maybe for some but not for me.

using disabilities and illnesses as a substitute word can be very harmful, even if they’re not intending to say it in a derogatory way. Overtime people will subconsciously link the two words together and for most people that’ll be the extent of their knowledge of said disabilities or illnesses. That those with it are associated with a term that more than likely doesn’t apply to most if not all of people with it.

May I make a suggestion for a future Polar Warrior content? Logically one may easily deduce tires should be invented before brakes. First reading Evolutionary origin of bipolar disorder on Pubmed by J. Sherman and second by researching the evolution of Myostatin and other inhibitors . I claim consciousness was first invented by the bipolar genes and then came the emotional regulation and stability genes . And stress may untangle these adaptations in reverse order. So I conclude having bipolar is a retro-evolution. A retro evolution to the origins of Consciousness. I do not have strong evidence to back it up but I think this may give some inspiration for Research if it reaches a good audience.

I hate that they can’t see it and we don’t always wanna show it to them and it’s so many different degrees for different people. You know I’m different when you’re taking medication try having ADHD and autism and bipolar being diagnosed with those but maybe they’re all you know maybe they’re all related but try thatand try knowing your understanding and talking about your med not like you’re like a drug addict or try off your meds and seeing how you can’t function and wondering was I better when I was younger? I didn’t drink coffee or anything because then I was.

Is there a reason why you say "I have Bipolar" rather than "I have Bipolar Disorder"?
@PolarWarriors3 ай бұрын
I prefer to say "I have Bipolar" because it feels more personal and relatable. It helps me communicate my experience without the clinical terminology. -Rob www.patreon.com/PolarWarriors

It’s insulting when many “identify”as bipolar or have been misdiagnosed. Thanks TikTok. For those of us who are actually bipolar with psychosis (Sylvia Plath, “The Bell Jar”) it trivializes an illness that can destroy lives. It killed her. Not me though!

No, not everyone has a bit of bipolar , having just learnt i have tye symptoms, it is a very severe and debilitating condition. I am having regular meeting with a psychiatrist and he said i presented with mania and depression at the same time.

That sounds rough, man. Just remember, it’s okay to ask for help. Sometimes just talking it out can make a world of difference! I know this illness can be incredibly hard to navigate. I'd love to offer any support I can... If it interests you, I have a private community where you can message me directly and network with other people who are going through similar struggles. No pressure of course, but it would be great to have you join us. I'm very accessible and happy to answer any questions you have... Below is a link to my private community on Patreon.
