Yep exactly why he got so messed up in season 4, he felt that there was no hope for him. Zach was consumed with guilt for what happened to Hannah and Bryce and i think monty too. He blamed himself for Hannah and Bryce’s deaths and on top of that, Chloe was dating somebody else

Honestly I never shipped her with clay . To me it feels more like clay was much like an escape for her from everything she was going through , which she needed , wanted to choose but just couldn't at the end . And the way she looked at him always made me sad not to mention their times together . Where as i genuenly felt zach and her love ......mmm.......like the thing they had though he couldn't be there for her by the end of the day and was just a coward . I felt she loved zach and wanted him to stay . I know he could have made the difference but it was what she chosed at the end and like tony said eveybody just let her down everytime .
