Isola delle Femmine is my hometown's Sister City. I live in Monterey, California. I was able to meet Joe DiMaggio when he came to our family picnic. I missed visiting Isola in 2019, but, I hope to visit hopefully in 2022.

Quest'isola mi ricorda la mia infanzia, avevamo una casina per il periodo estivo anni '80 a Capaci e spesso con la barca andavamo a fare una "scampagnata" sull'isola , bella con una storia affascinante, bei ricordi

Grazie! My father-in-law’s family came from Isola and now live in Pittsburg, CA. We lived in Martinez for several years also! Had plans to visit Sicily earlier this year but had to postpone... :(. Hoping to make it someday!!

My family on both sides come from Isola Delle Femmina. They came to Monterey as fishermen. My nonno Ventimiglia who was born in Isola Delle Femmina started a sardine factory on Cannery Row in Monterey in the 40s. It’s a park now with a plaque that commemorates him and his cannery. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this town in Sicily, and discovered several not so distant relatives there. Thank you for this video. It’s lovely.

My father-in-law Pete Cardinale moved from Isola to Monterey as a boy. He fished all up and down the West Coast and like many Sicilians and Croatians ended up fishing salmon in Alaska. To this day fisherman from Trapetto, San Vito and even Marettimo make the June pilgrimage to Bristol Bay to fish Sockeye.
