Hey everyone, just to clear up any confusion the "kingfish" is what we call a Yellowtail Kingfish(Seriola lalandi) here in Australia. Also know as a Yellowtail Amberjack elsewhere. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching 🤙🏽

I love fish tacos. I lived in Acapulco for a year when I was in my 20s. Did a lot of scuba diving. We, friends and I would take our spearguns and catch our supper. The ladies at a little tacoria, Dow the street from the dive shop would cook our fish for us, and we always had fish tacos.

Great video! Everything has been turned on it's head with the Covid-19 crisis and we are lucky we can still get out and do what we love. Strange, your Western rock blackfish look just like the Eastern rock blackfish I love to catch and eat in the Wollongong region. Would be great to see a future video from you on filleting, preparing the wings of a big fish and knife care - steeling, stropping, honing on whetstones etc. Knives are my other passion and are often neglected by good anglers but a sharp well-maintained blade is a pleasure to use!
@gidosfishingadventures4 жыл бұрын
A well sharpened knife is so nice, unfortunately I neglect mine a bit and filleting on the rocks doesn’t help. Normally I give it a good sharpen up after a few outings
@franksaunders65344 жыл бұрын
@@gidosfishingadventures Victory knives New Zealand have a compact rabbiter's steel (they're made by a cutler who emigrated to NZ from Sheffield, England) that would fit in your pack and is good for in the field for re-aligning your blade while your filleting. Also, you're handy with your hands and could easily make a compact and light weight paddle strop. These two items would have you sorted in the field and keep your knife razor sharp. Size wise they would be very compact and wouldn't weigh you down.

I'm having a theory here. The Herring was slide rigged and whenever it was that the Kingfish picked up the bait, it found little resistance, so it remained calm. If I pull hard on a fresh hooked gamefish, they usually go crazy, fighting hard. Great outing!! Cheers!
