#IsolationPubSession

The brilliant folks at the Isolation Pub Session have done it again ... this is one of my favourite ones we've done for ages. Not only does it feature our regulars - but also some brilliant people joining for the first time from New Zealand and Canada!
I began playing these tunes on my own last Sunday - and within a week - it has become this glorious noise.
This week we begin with a tune I've just found called Saltash - it's a really simple and addictive tune ... and it is put together in a set with William Irwin's Modal Hornpipe (sometimes known as Barbara Allen) ... and then we'll go on to play the Turlough O'Carolan tune Planxty Fanny Power (which seems to set KZbin's dreadful copyright algorithm off more than any tune I've tried so far!)

Hi John, Saltash has the same tune as a hymn we used to sing at school. The two lines were: Heavenly Father may thy blessing Rest upon thy children now

Yes - it's used as a hymn tune - known as "Pleading Saviour" ... credited to Joshua Levy ... however it's quite common for hymns to have been based upon existing folk melodies.

This is so good! I loved learning these tunes. I will miss doing these so much when you get too busy to do them (even though I do hope you get too busy because I want to see you play live)
