This is funny to me, because when I was JUST starting out with HOI4, I played South Africa and Brazil almost exclusively so I could learn the base mechanics/learning the buttons of the game without worrying about much consequence. Why those two? Brazil can become a powerhouse in the region once you take care of it's internal problems and build up the civilian economy/infrastructure. It got even more fun to play when ToA came out which yes, is highly controversial. South Africa not so much, but I played it because it had more achievements tied to it which to a beginner are VERY hard in retrospect. I think doing that though made me better instead of playing a big country like USA or USSR because of the micromanagement and set up is different from something easy like South Africa or Brazil.

Dear Isorrow, I believe this path isn't as bad as you make it look like. I tried it and I can say that Air only South Africa is very good with this path (I even managed to get a bit more land after the war). While of course it's nothing too fancy because I am a mediocre player, I do geniunenly believe this is a fun way to play if you prefer doing a bit of a more supportive role

Waking the Tiger I hate the Chinese focus trees, they suck, it's too restrictive and historical There's also not really much other gameplay, but the focus tree, plus the decisions are sucha muddled mess I get why everyone has a similar focus tree, but still, there's just not much to do there, at least having varied focus trees would've been somewhat fun
