@John McGee Could you explain what all is wrong? I think it would benefit SWS and the viewers. I'm not sure the pex will swell 2.5 inches like he says, bu the rest seems pretty straightforward.
@rsilvers1294 жыл бұрын
Very nice. I would like to note that the specs call for a 1/8 to 1/4 gap between the ring and the fitting, so this could fail an inspection. Also, red PEX denotes hot water. Blue or white is best. PEX and filter should have been 1" if the rest of the pipe is that. Spin down filter is on backwards.
@warh0rn2 жыл бұрын
Won't you lose pressure with a 1" PEX? Does it cost more both in pipe and tools for 1"? Benefits of 1"?

Color doesn't matter
@KaosHappens Жыл бұрын
@@warh0rn You lose less pressure with 1" pex, it also costs more. The only disadvantage is volume of water in the pipe is not ideal for hot water lines, you have to heat up all that extra water and flush more to get it.

Also has CPVC and PEX too close to the UV light. It needs to be hard piped with copper going in and out of the UV filter for some distance to reduce UV exposure breaking down the polymers in the PVC and PEX.

I installed almost the same system but I added an electronic water descaler. It's kind of interesting how you decided that you have a better system for fastening the crimp rings than the engineers who designed Pex. They say you should use one ring only, and place it back about an eighth of an inch from the end of the tube. And you should crimp it once only. They even provide a handy go/no-go gauge with your crimper so you can make sure the rings are secure. Your way might be almost as good.
@Rick-the-Swift2 жыл бұрын
His way is better. Have you considered WHY Pex only says to use one ring and one crimp? I'll give you a minute to think about it. Because if they recommended two rings and two crimps, their product would be less marketable, and customers would be beaching and moaning about the extra time and expense. However professional plumbers who do enough of this kind of work often see those joints as the first point of failure. Having backup rings, and double checking your crimp only makes good sense.
@BobZed2 жыл бұрын
@@Rick-the-Swift When products like this are designed (by real engineers with college degrees and everything) they designed it from the ground up for the best, most durable option . They don't care if it takes you slightly longer. It just needs to last longer. One ring leaves a cuff of PEX on the joint side that makes it harder to pull thru the ring. And since the inside of the rings are smooth while the barb is not, an extra ring gets you nothing. I've installed PEX for years, and it so much easier and faster that copper or galvanized pipe that no real plumber would gripe if he or she had to install five rings. Buy the rings in bags of 100. They cost almost nothing. If you're estimating a job there's really no point in adding the cost of the rings. Years later, nothing has moved with "only one" ring even with water pressure that is higher than it should be. It's also quicker to install than PVC or CPVC unless you go for the really expensive push fittings. It is interesting to see idiots try to outsmart the pros because they don't understand how the system works.

Can't stand when plumbers install entire assemblies of plumbing fittings, pipes, and shutoff valves unsupported. It puts stress on the sharkbite fittings and those crimp on connections. Add some blocking to the wall and secure it properly. The main on my house was installed with a water meter, shutoff, PRV, installed completely unsupported. Amazing how it passed local inspection.

Nice install. I'd number or label those filter housings. I'm an old DIY plumber whose had Reverse Osmosis Filter Systems for almost 40 years. If you asked me which filter goes where.... I might get it right. But mostly what I've done is just replace the one that's in each housing with the one like it. So if I got them out of order once.... it'll probably be that way until I go look it up on the internet. Might be out of order for years. I like that 'spin' filter, great concept.

Suggestion on teflon tape. The teflon should be tightened on the thread as you unwind it from the tape housing.
@jamescostello65295 жыл бұрын
It's been shown in multiple tests that these filters remove sediment, tastes and odors, and minerals. The minerals removed do not soften water which is one of their big claims. The cost north of $1000 and you have a constant filter replacement built in for the life of the unit. A simple whole house two filter, sediment and taste and odor will do the same for about $150.
@lisab33964 жыл бұрын
James, The little Silfos (Phosphate) pre-filter is supposed to tie up the minerals and thus in theory to soften the water. In fact it only adds the phosphate to bind up the minerals which stay in the water and "doesn't" soften the water. The Calcium and Magnesium bonding/binding with phosphate "may" be filtered out through the 3 stage filtration. However, I doubt it. It "may" just end up shortening the life of the filter cartridges due to early plugging. In which case the house owner "may" be replacing cartridges more often than expected.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm a plumber but not a water filtration specialist. I was thinking to install the spindown filter , then the 3 stage filter , before the well tank the still use the single stage after everything just because it's already there. anyhow again all help is greatly appreciated. @iSpringWaterSystems5 ай бұрын
Hi dear customer! If water pressure drops immediately after installation of a WGB series system, please take into account that bathtubs, utility sinks, hose bibs, multi-headed showers, body sprayers, or anything that is considered high-flow should be avoided for the first 72 hours. Any high-flow situation within the first 72 hours may cause a temporary carbon blockage. -To clear the blockage, turn off any running water for at least 10 minutes and resume using water at low or normal flow rates. -Allow the water to run until the air and carbon has been purged. Water may be cloudy initially as the filters and the system clear of trapped air. New activated carbon filter cartridges may contain loose carbon and air bubbles after the installation/replacement. Great job ~ I learned a lot? Would you recommend pressure gauges.
@CS-rn7mn6 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce McGee, Adding the pressure gauges is a preference when the system is installed. The pressure gauges are a useful tool to see the incoming and outgoing psi (water pressure) in and out of the system. This can be used as a tool to see when the filters may be due to be changed. Thank you, iSpring Water Systems LLC
@supertokinwhiteguy6 жыл бұрын
Bruce McGee A pressure gauge is necessary for pump switch operation and setting. For filtration, the only time pressure gauges would be useful is during operation of the system to note the pressure drop across the filters. When you notice a significant operating pressure drop it’s a notification to change your filters. There will always be pressure drop across any water system from beginning to end, but it gets more significant as the flow is restricted.

do you drink out of the faucet with this filtration system? and if not would you or would you not recommend it. Also how much water does it filter a day? where would it be stored?
@iSpringWaterSystems4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vincent. Thanks for reaching out! Here are the answers to your questions. 1) The products in the video are whole house water systems. Although you can drink out of your faucet after this filtration, we recommend installing a reverse osmosis system (like this one: www.amazon.com/iSpring-RCC7AK-Capacity-Drinking-Remineralization/dp/B005LJ8EXU) for safer drinking water. 2) You can filter as much water as you want per day. However, the filters' lifespan is up to 100k gallons of water (depending on your water quality). That means the more water you filter per day, or the worse your water quality is, the more frequently you need to change your filters. 3) The filters should be stored indoors or under shelter to avoid direct sunlight and freezing temperatures. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us at 678-261-7611 (M-F, 8:30 - 5:30 EST) or email us at support@123filter.com. We are happy to help.

Hi Spicer. For more information about crimpers, you can check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmTJhGNnmpaFjK8&feature=emb_logo (the crimper is near the end). Our WGB series whole house water systems have different type of connectors for Pex and some of the connectors require expansion before insertion and crimping.

I DO have a question... Seattle's water is actually very good... 29 ppm... My house is 70 years old and the pipes are original... Lately the hot water side has slowed down so I'm going to take care of that and add one of these set ups I see above... Here's the question... Two products promise to revitalize your water... Something about clusters of molecules, blah blah... One is the Home edge... Basically, sets of propellers just to churn up the water... And the other is an electronic system that uses EM frequencies to alter some ionic blah blah... Are either actually worth anything?

I would want to see validation data on the UV tube because flow rate or residence time will influence microbiological kill or in plain English the effectiveness of sterilization. I would prefer a post filtration buffer tank with a UV light that ensures the water is exposed to UV for a critical minimum time prior to use. Validation data = total bacterial count in vs total bacterial count out with flow rate =K1 and tube length = K2

Hi Tommy Parisi, Thank you for your question! The siliphos will not be removed by the whole house system due to the micron size of the filters. iSpring Water Systems since the uv light is unavailable right now on amazon, does it make a big difference with just the filter? and can it be added later on?
@iSpringWaterSystems4 жыл бұрын
Hi @@abel1955, it depends on what contaminant(s) you need to remove from the water. Our WSP pre-filters are used to remove larger particles from the water and the WGB whole house filters are built to remove finer sediment like rust, dust, sand, etc., chlorine (bad taste and smell), and/or iron & manganese / lead, depending on which system you choose. You can always add a UV light later on.

I had to cut my pex .connector to release water psi in other to change the filter. water leak from incoming 1inch water .
