When Topuria suffered that kick to the head, I was impressed by how calm he was, he knew exactly what to do, as if he had that scenario covered in his training camp. I saw an interview he did months after that fight and they asked him exactly about that kick to the head. His response confirmed to me that all of that is covered in his training camp. He also stated that such situations are a very crucial part of any fighter training camp because hitting and being hit is part of the sport. He goes on to say that it will be a waste of time if all you do is train your strikes, such as boxing, wrestling, submissions, and jiu jitsu, but skip the part about what to do if any of them hit you badly. . he is in another world

The more i watch this sport the more i come to appreciate these guys in their eras and reigns. Mma is chaotic but blissful at the same time. For one must fall for another to rise. That is the law of nature. I'm sad for this loss for volk he was fighting very well, it looked like he was beginning to get going. Was fast and sharp, the constant kicks to the arms of Topuria i could see what he was going for. Until he got rushed by a punch he didn't see coming. It's just one of those things man. I personally believe he can come back and win that fight. And a rematch is definitely valid. But it think a good long rest isn't a bad idea before going again. 🙏

Izzy Im spanish and you are my favourite fighter of all time, and volk is one of the goats of the sport. He is so humble too and such a good person. I have to say Ilia is the king of the new generation, he is incredible all round and has the most insane KO power I’ve seen in FW. It was so hard for me that my homeboy had to fight volk for his dream and our dream, but it is what it is. Cruel sport after all.
