I’m Australian and I’m disgusted at the rhetoric coming from my prime minister and foreign minister. Gutless trying to please everyone for the sake of a vote. Thank God that the Russians haven't given in to the temptation to overreact, despite their desperate and costly war with Ukraine. The loss of Syria has got to be a bad blow to their national psyche as well as their sense of security. The Shia clerics in Iran have also got to be in a state of panic. Their rush for "the bomb" has just been kicked into overdrive. Their relationship with North Korea has also now taken on a whole new urgency as their survival and hold onto power has taken on a whole new level of desperation. It pays to remember that desperate people make very stupid costly mistakes, so, as incredible as the fall of the Assad regime is, don't anybody be tempted to "lean back on the couch and put their feet up." This developement hasn't fully played itself out. May God bless all with clear heads.
