She was taken hostage and held in Gaza for over 50 days in terrible conditions. Her husband is still in there. She knows what he and all the others have and are going through in captivity. To say she's thinking just of herself is unfair. And as she was released in a deal with relatively good conditions, she believes that another similar deal could be brokered to release the rest. She's wrong, but it's not hard to see where she's coming from. She's wrong for the reason you said: The future of Israel is on the line. She was released in exchange for 3 mostly-low-grade prisoners. Hamas now wants 30 per civilian, 50 per female soldier and 500 per male soldier. And it wants big prisoners with life sentences and a proven terrorism track record. And it wants full IDF retreat and ceasefire. And it wants to survive this war, which means to rearm and act against Israel again in the future. This is unacceptable. It's sad to say, but the hundred and a bit hostages, alive and dead, are not worth risking the entire nation. And the more she and her ilk keep blaming Netanyahu and putting pressure on the government, the more Hamas feels it can raise the conditions, despite being at a definitive disadvantage in the war and negotiations.

here in Canada our media is very bias and they support the state of Israel no matter what. So I have to go to independent media like Owen Jones, or Ben Norton.......and of course many others......if I really want to develop a perspective. From being a supporter of Israel I quickly and easily found that it was Israel that was bad! I found that they created a state for themselves where people already lived. I found that their school books are constructed to persuade citizens to believe in a story that is not really true. And then there is the thousands of Palestinians killed since 1948. Right now we can plainly see that thousands of innocent men women and children are most definitely being bombed.
