intersting, there are the same crazy and suspect people that listen this psytrance Music. Also the look and the drug abuse seems similar.

Spoken like a truly judgemental, fun-hating control freak. I have met others that were upset by people having fun and looking happy as well, it seems like a strange thing to waste time and energy on... seeking out what other people do for fun or whatever, then trying to tell them how you disapprove, why and all that jazz. Why not go do something that makes you happy instead of criticizing what others are doing? Drug use and music events, and musicians... and fans.... have gone pretty much hand in hand, across all genres, since at least... i dunno, the dawn of time? There will always be people getting high at live music events... any good ones, anyway. It really is just what some people do, and a lot of them... but not everyone. I have been to quite a few shows, sober as a judge... Granted at one time in my life I would party so hard for so long, I had to take a break... but I still went to concerts. I haven't taken any hallucinogenics in years... not that I have an issue with them, seeing how the use of hallucinogens in conjunction with ritual dance has been a STAPLE in almost every culture and religion since... yeah, the dawn of recorded history. I've done my fair share, and for me it's all about circumstance, setting, and frame of mind... if all three are not working well in unison it's a no-go, words of wisdom to live by. Most people partaking in the use of such substances, or at least in my experience, view it more like a religious or spiritual sacrament, used to gain insight about themselves, the people around them and the universe and all its mystery. I can tell you it was at a music event in the mountains of California where I had the closest thing I've ever had to a religious epiphany.... it was an amazing sense of connection to the music, the people around me and the universe as a whole... the sunrise, an ocean of people dancing in unison... in celebration of life, love and spirit. It was life-altering. Not so much is used irresponsibly like, say alcohol... or cocaine. Very different animals there, a world of difference really... in more then 20 years of psychedelics trance events, I have never seen a single fight, not even a heated argument... everyone there is super friendly and open for the most part, I have seen incredible acts of kindness though, and watching people treat strangers like family restored my faith in humanity to be honest ;) I think it was Lior Perlmutter from the well know Israeli act Astral Projection, in an interview where they were discussing a time when law enforcement agencies where threatening not only nightclub owners, but DJ's, with a whole host of serious charges like conspiracy to distribute narcotics... for nothing more than playing Psychedelic Trance records. Or, in the case of club owners, allowing Dj's to play Psychedelic Trance records... which is really some next level Reefer Madness era hysteria and 1984 gone wild type shit, but anyways, Lior put it simply, and best, when he said... " the music is my drug". For many, it's not only "their drug" but, their drug of choice! When people can just dance, and lose themselves in the music... be happy for them. We should all be so lucky in that moment. Music is very powerful, and psychedelic trance has many unique qualities... its history and origins is a truly amazing tale. The genre has changed many lives, almost always for the better as far as I am aware, and it's touched many others. There is a sense of unity in its community and it tickles your brain in ways that other music just doesn't. It has a lot of energy and that energy flows freely and strongly at these events... it's like aggressive music for peaceful people if that makes sense. It's not for everyone, I find that you either get it, and love it instantly... or not. You feel it, or you don't I guess. You see sketchy drug addicts... I see people getting together and celebrating their humanity. If you haven't been to see this music performed live on a quality sound system, of substantial power... outside, in a majestic setting, then you honestly have no idea what it's all about. It's not the same as watching youtube videos... or hearing it for 3 hours in a smokey nightclub that throws everyone out at 2am... any more then a picture of a sandwich will satisfy your hunger. The music is also rather complex it... there is more going on then you notice at first blush, trust me, the top Psytrance producers are some of the top producers, period... This music is the heart and soul of those that produce it, it's not just what they do... it's who they are. It's well crafted with meticulous attention to every fine details, every sound has been manipulated and processed and manipulated again, to create the amazingly lush soundscapes you hear. Psytrance is rather unique in the way it creates an immense sense of sonic space, how sounds seem to come from locations in that space, and sound like they are moving in different directions... how it can convey imagery without lyrics and feels... otherworldly, spiritual and mysterious, it's a beautiful art form that is too often misunderstood and/or overlooked. It feels modern, futuristic... and somehow ancient at the same time... Don't be a dick and feed into the negativity.
