This is Rafah, situated near the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
To help you understand the basic IDF strategy, let's divide Gaza into 5 parts.
We start with North Gaza, then move on to Gaza,
followed by Deir Al Balah, Khan Younis, and finally Rafah and this crossing towards Egypt.
And a quick recap: since Hamas attack on October 7, the IDF has invaded Gaza from almost all sides, by land, sea, and air.
Firstly, invading Gaza from the North, then progressing to Central Gaza, while instructing Gazans to move to the South.
There are various crossings that the IDF controls, namely the Kerem Shalom and Hamas controls Rafah.

If Hamas is completely dismantled, another Hamas with a different name will pop up and it will have the immediate backing of 2 million Gazans. The 25,000 Palestinian orphans of the war are technically already a national security threat to Israel, as cold-blooded as that sounds.
