A couple Hundred million in development of the Iron dome is nothing when the iron dome actually is net profit compared to the number of lives and infrastructure it saves. I should remind you that the average Human accumulates about 1.65 million dollars(pre-tax) through their lifetime. If a person was saved by a single Iron dome missile($50,000) then they just prolonged their life only for a measly 1 and a half years paycheck. We wasted at least 3 trillion dollars trying to pacify Iraq whether it's Saddam or ISIS only to let it become an Iranian puppet state where the US embassy was burned down. I think 3.8 Billion dollars a year is nothing compared to Israeli US relations with tech sharing, economic interests, and the military powerhouse. Not to mention Israel is a net exporter of weapons. The 3.8 billion a year we provide is nothing to the amount of economic income we get from Israelis who participate in the US markets.

It would be impractical to have it on our shores because we have ICBMs and AA. Most of our wars are played offensively because we have 2 oceans and the largest navy protecting us from an invasion. It's always better to be the people bombing rather than being the ones being bombed.
