About St Paul..Everytime I talk with religious people, I ask them if they can recite the names of the 12 apostles. Most of the time they cannot. And they discover that Paul was not one of them . How come that Paul is the most sikat of all apostles? Paul is fr Tarsus 500 km fr Jerusalem. He was a jew with Roman citizanship, which he got fr his father, a tent maker, who was granted Roman citizenship for supplying tents to the Roman Legions. Paul also followed his fathers trade. He spoke Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek and Latin. By present standard he is considered may pinag aralan, that is why when he speaks people listen ..When Jesus died at age 33, Paul was about 20, their time overlaps, but they never met personally. After the death of Jesus, St Stephen was active preaching near the temple, gaining the ire of the Jews for which he was stoned, watching the stoning and shouting encouragement was Saul renamed later as Paul. Saul, a rabid anti christian asked the temple authorities , permission to go after the group called, ' The Way ', as the early christians were then called . Permission was given, and along the way to Damascus , 300kms.north of Jerusalem, Saul experienced his epiphany with Jesus. He became a rabid convert , and gained many followers . His activities caught the attention of the leftover apostles in Jerusalem, headed by James and Peter. These two sent emissaries to Antioch to investigate and there found that while Paul was teaching about Jesus.,he did not observe the Jewish religious practices , such as the purity laws, observance of the sabbath, and more horrible converting non jews or gentiles. The emisaries prevailed Paul to go to Jerusalem for a summit talk with James and Peter. Paul was reluctant, but went. At the confrontation, Paul was scolded , sinabon siya, why are you converting non jews that is against the explicit orders of Bossing Jesus, why do you let them work during the Sabbath, and worse they are uncircumscised ( supot) .But Paul countered that his orders are direct from Jesus and he is not taking his authority from them. Paul told James and Peter that the Gentiles are willing converts provided , huwag lang silang tuli in , ang sakit eh, wala kasing anesthesia. There was an impasse, until Paul as an aside commented, that sayang namang itakwil ko ang mga gentiles generous pa naman kung magbigay ng donations, mayroon nga akong dala riyan para sa inyo pero kung hindi nyo sila tatanggapin, ibalik ko na lang sa kanila ang pera. Peter (nabigla) Ha? May pera ka dyan? Sandali lang huwag kang umalis, umupo ka muna at pag usapan uli natin yan. So, the outcome of the Jerusalem summit conference was a compromise, Paul was allowed to continue converting the gentiles, whether they be tuli or supot let be, and most importantly dont forget to remit the contributions here in the headquarters in Jerusalem. Were it not for Paul, Christianity was a stillborn baby or at most would have died a natural death in Jerusalem. The 11 disciples were content on proselitizing only among Jews as per instruction of Jesus, and were gaining only a few converts, but upon insistence of the new guy in town, Paul, who introduced a modified doctrine that the good news should be brought to the whole world, Peter followed. In 500 BC when the Greeks ruled the area, the land now known as Turkeyi was called by the Greeks as. Anatolia..the land to the East..when the Romans took over in the first century, they renamed it , Asia Minor, this is the land that Paul roamed. When the Roman Empire split, the area was called the Byzantine Empire . After the Byzantines came the Ottomans. Paul cannot be begrudged of his claim to apostleship. He made three travels around Asia Minor and Greece. He endured so much danger and hardship, he was robbed, put in prison, crossed treachrous rivers and mountains, exposed to wild animals, am I not entitled to be the foremost apostle? If it were not for the perseverance of Paul, there would be no Christianity, no Pope, no Cardinal Sin, no Manalo and of course no Pastor Abante.

God's One Covenant for Everyone The Bible teaches us that God's promise, or covenant, is for all people, including Jews and non-Jews. The covenant made with the ancient Jews was not unconditional; it required their faithfulness and obedience to God’s laws. In Deuteronomy 28:1-2, it states, "If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands…all these blessings will come on you and accompany you." This shows that the blessings of the covenant depended on their actions. When the Jews rejected Jesus, God opened the door for everyone, including Gentiles, to be part of His family. In the New Testament, in the book of Galatians 3:26-29, it says, "So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Additionally, in Romans 2:28-29, it explains, "A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart." This means that true membership in God's family isn't just about heritage; it's about faith and inner transformation. Thus, there is no separate covenant for Christians and a different one for Jews. This was a way to prepare the world for the coming of Jesus, the Messiah, who would bring salvation to all humanity. However, with the arrival of Jesus and the establishment of the New Covenant, the focus shifted from a national identity to a spiritual one. In Hebrews 12:22-24, it describes the "heavenly Jerusalem" as the true home of believers: "But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem." This indicates that God's primary concern is not with earthly Jerusalem or any earthly nation, but rather with the spiritual community of believers. Ultimately, God's intention is for all individuals to be saved and to enter into a personal relationship with Him, transcending any national or ethnic boundaries. The call to faith is for everyone, and the emphasis is on spiritual unity and love rather than conflict or division.
