Israel has said it and its allies have intercepted the vast majority of more than 300 drones and missiles launched by Iran.
It said there were a small number of hits on its territory, including at an IDF base in southern Israel, while one child has been injured.
Iran's attack is a retaliation for an Israeli strike that killed an Iranian military commander in Damascus, Syria earlier this month.
Iran's unprecedented, retaliatory attack marks the first time it has targeted Israel directly from its own soil.

That air bases air defense completely failed, and Iran's ballistic missiles that you say were all completely intercepted and shot down in actuality were easily able to get past the Iron Dome/Patriot batteries and slam into the air base causing severe damage. I found those videos in 5 minutes, but your whole team at the BBC just missed them and didn't see? So you report every missile was intercepted? Not hardly, you all know exactly what I know and you saw the same videos I did. Your just paid by your government to lie through your damn teeth. Then they launched cheap cruise missiles from ships. But the real target was the Israel air base in the desert that houses f35 fighters. Thease were targeted with mid range ballistic missiles. I saw over 6 hit!! Sky news said the Israel admitted the base was hit with 7 large missiles! Iran say they are done. It was a message to Israel not to attack their embassies again. And that was just a starter course. Iran has swathes of missiles and are 100 times cheaper to make.

My understanding is that the Iron Dome system evaluates the threat from each incoming attack and only fires at those that pose a risk. If an incoming missile is going to fall in an open field they don't waste a defensive shot on it.
