Israel: The Shvil Israel trail - 3. Meron - Kinneret

A flat and well walked trail goes up to the mountain top of Meron.
The travelers are protected from the sun by the crowns of pistachio and oak trees.
We also came across the strawberry trees with their smooth dark red trunks.
The soil is fertile here.
It was broken into small sections - like the six hundred square meter dacha properties in Russia.
There are occasionally holes on the path, sometimes quite deep.
And interesting rocky formations.
This rock is called "Ilya's Chair" - in honor of the old Hebrew prophet.
Slightly further are the ruins of Hirbat Shamma.
The most noticeable construction here is an ancient synagogue, put together with the huge stone blocks.
The processed rocks lie scattered around.
After crossing the highway No. 866, the trail enters the gorge of Nakhal Amud and goes along the course of the stream.
The main local attraction are the pools of Shekhvi and the waterfalls.
The water was moving the millstones for many years.
Only ruins are left from the mills now.
And the stream continues flowing, just as thousands of years ago.
After crossing the highway No. 85, the trail continues in the bottom of the gorge Nakhal Amud.
This part of the trail has much bigger popularity than the other.
The trail passes by an amusing stone formation, in honor of which the canyon got its name as the Gorge of Column, or in Hebrew- Nakhal Amud.
The Kineret lake is also known as Tiberias Lake, Gennesaret lake or the Sea of Galilee.
It is the largest source of fresh water in Israel.
It is used both for drinking and for the irrigation of the banana plantations.
Tiberias Lake is located in the hollow, going 213 meters down below the sea-level.
It is the lowest fresh-water pool on the whole planet.
Numerous streams and small rivers fall into here.
And only one river, Jordan, takes its beginning.
Therefore the water in the lake remains fresh.
The Kineret lake is repeatedly mentioned in the Bible.
The future apostles Andrey and Peter used to fish here.
Jesus Christ lived and preached in Capernaum.
Exactly here, he fed five thousand people with two fishes and five breads.
In the Gospel of Matthew is described what has happened after this.
Jesus' trail, lying on the coast of the Gennesaret lake, goes through the places where the miracles, described in the Bible, happened.
Everything here remained just as it was two thousand years ago.
And this is already a miracle.
There are no buildings on the coast line.
Date groves still rustle here.
Directly on the bank of the lake, there is the Maria Magadalina's farmstead, belonging to the mission of Russian Orthodox Church.
There are always a lot of pilgrims from Russia.
Behind the monastery, the beaches of the Tibery resort begin.
It is a historical place.

Валерий,спасибо большое за фильм,но есть несколько неточностей.На пример то что давал друз на лепешке это не майонез а лабане,такой мягкий сыр.
