Fantastic performance and cinematography. The desert scenes are spectacular-- it reminds me of the deserts of California.

For me, the mountains; the path to the sea will never come. . . Never, never. What could be more mournful?

wwwendy added the lyrics to the song and a translation. Having a translation makes the song all the more haunting.

israelchanel, how can this possibly be from the late '60s if this particular version of the song was recorded in 1978 under the arrangement of Matti Caspi? Also, this clip, along with number of music clips you uploaded, seems to be taken from a French tourist film about Israel. You know what's the name of it? Or, could you please tell where did you get this from? Very interesting indeed! Thank you!

This is from a German production of 1967, called "Shalom", which has been also shown on French tv.

I see... :) Thanks for the fast reply! Still wondering about the '78 recording of the song being used here... I'll try to find more of this production. Thank you very much again!

I tried to find any glimpse of information on this production, and nothing. Just nothing. "Shalom" is such a generic title, it is very difficult to find anything specific with it. israelchanel, you must have the complete film, could you please find a time to upload it? I will really appreciate this! If you can't for any reason, please just tell me who are the director behind it? Producer, or any other person from the main production crew? What channel in Germany or France it was shown? That'll help very much. This production have a very special value and significance, it must be more known and preserved. Merci!

I also searched in the internet and cannot find any info about it. But in all of the videos of this show I got many comments by several people, telling me that it was a show, which has been shown on German tv in 1967, named "Shalom". I first thought, it would be from 1969, but then they told me, that the singers are looking like from 1967. For example Ilan & Ilanit, they sing and look like from 1967 and not from 1969. And so of course it is impossible, that this show is from 1978, how you wrote above. It must be from the 60s! I wrote the credits for you, which are in the show: Shalom musical arrangements: Bert Grund Chanan Winternitz sound: Werner Seth Shimon Weismann operators: W.P. Hassenstein Udo B. Drebelow choreography: Heinz Schmiedel production managers: Michael Bittins Zvi Spielmann scenario and realization: Heinz Liesendahl coproduction: Bavaria Atelier GmbH Munich with the collaboration of Israfilm motion pictures production services ltd.

Now I found it: translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tvprogramme.net%2Fview_tag.php%3Ftag%3D1969-05-01&edit-text= it has been shown as a repeat in 1969 in German tv. So it for sure cannot be from the 70s :-)
