The actions of Hamas entering Israeli Territory and committing acts of war stem from a perceived complacency in Israel. Israel has been experiencing unprecedented success in its standard of living. They assumed sharing some of this prosperity with the Arabs in the Gaza Strip would be reciprocated positively. However, this assumption proved flawed, generating envy and anger instead of admiration.
Hamas saw an opportunity amidst Israel's internal divisions and global political changes, to disrupt the Abraham Accords and challenge Israeli control.
